United States Army Veteran, Mr. David Joshua Mitchell of 304 Ridgeway Drive, Americus, Georgia died Saturday, January 23, 2021.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 3:30 PM on the grounds of the Friendship Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia.  The burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Americus, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

David Joshua Mitchell affectionately called "Lil Dave" and "Fish" by his family was born on October 31, 1994 in Americus, Georgia to  Angela Gardner (Lawarrior) and David Hawkins (Kartresa).  He grew up in Americus, Georgia and was educated in the Sumter County School System.

At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior.  He was a member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church of Americus, Georgia.

As he grew, David became a dedicated son, father, brother, cousin, and friend.  David was always a stand up guy always stealing the show with his outgoing spirit.  David graduated from the Sumter County High School in 2013.  After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and later attended South Georgia Technical   College.  He was also employed by Corrocoat USA in Jacksonville, Florida.

David passed away on January 23, 2021 in Americus, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his brother, LaWarrior Gardner and his grandparents, Loretha Mitchell and Elenzer Hawkins.
