Michael D.
Atkins
Sep 25, 1961 — Mar 1, 2018
On September 25, 1961, Mr. Huley Moultrie and Mrs. Martha Atkins Harris were wonderfully blessed with the birth of a son. They named him Michael Darnell.
Michael was educated in the public schools of Dougherty County. He later attended South Georgia Technical College where he earned his GED.
Realizing a need for Christ in his life, he united with the Perry Grove Baptist Church in Leslie, Georgia. At Perry Grove, he served willingly as President of the Ushers Ministry, Floor Technician, and member of the Kitchen Committee. He was also in training to become a Deacon.
Michael will always be remembered as a hardworking man, who believed in providing for his family. This characteristic was evident as he worked for 19 1/2 years as a Floor Tech at South Georgia Technical College in Americus, Georgia. Michael was currently employed as a Forklift Driver for FedEx of Albany. His attitude towards life and his work ethics had a profound impact upon the lives of his co-workers. Additionally, he will be remembered for the many precious moments he spent with his family, his love for cooking and the enjoyment he got out of playing a good game of Spades.
On Thursday, March 1, 2018, our beloved Michael peacefully slipped away. The light of his life will forever burn in our hearts.
