Mr. William Hardemon, Sr. of  2116 South 10th Street, Cordele, Georgia died Monday, September 16, 2024 at his residence.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 5:00 PM in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at Westview Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services must wear a mask and practice social distancing.  A mask must be worn throughout the stay.  You must supply your mask.

Mr. William Hardemon, Sr. was born March 15, 1955 in Cordele, Georgia.  Better known to many by his nickname, "Pookie" he was the son of Mr. Charlie Hardemon and Mrs. Mattie Hardemon.

As a child he was enrolled in the public school system where he attended the schools of Crisp County.  He was a proud graduate of Crisp County High School.

He gave new meaning to the term "shade tree mechanic".  Using the skills taught to him by father, he was the local mechanic who could fix just about any car.  His skills as an automobile mechanic were known throughout the community and he willingly passed his skills on to his sons.

When not fixing cars, he enjoyed racing or a good game of pool.  He was a member of the Peaceful Riders Motorcycle Club, who considered himself to be the Pittsburgh Steelers #1 fan.  A loving grandfather, he was considered by many as a grill master who was known for "smoking up Newtown".  He was also known to be a "meteorologist," he always kept up with the weather.

On Monday, September 16, 2024, his walk on this side came to an end.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mattie and his grandmother, Mrs. Ethel Webb.

He leaves many fond and loving memories to his loving and devoted family, his wife, Mrs. Sarah Hardemon of  Cordele, Georgia; his sons, Mr. Christopher Raines (Natasha) of Hampton, Georgia, Mr. William Hardemon of Riverdale, Georgia, and Mr. Richard Hardemon (Erika) of Ellenwood, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Markell, Jalen, Aalyiah, Javen, De'Sean, Jamya, Kylah, Maylasia, and   Tyson; his sisters, Ms. Earlen Hardemon and Ms. Elaine Hunter both of Macon, Georgia; his brothers, Deacon Charles Hardeman of Cordele, Georgia and Mr. Eugene Anderson of Newark, New Jersey; his uncle, Mr. Otis Hardemon of Miami, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
