Mr. Walter Lee Mobley, Sr. of 446 Fish Hatchery Road, Cordele, Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Shady Grove Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Westview Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.
Walter Lee Mobley, Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, was born on December 1, 1940, in Crisp County, Georgia. He was the cherished son of John Wesley Mobley, Sr., and Fannie Mae Smith. His life was a tapestry woven with love, faith, and community.
Walter's early education took place at the Penia Baptist Church School, where he laid the foundation for a life of learning and growth. His faith journey began when he accepted Christ and joined the Shady Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia.
Walter was a man of many interests. He was an avid hunter and farmer, finding peace and purpose in the land. His passion for collecting guns was matched by his joy in simple pleasures, such as riding around the city and visiting friends. Walter was also a proud Free Mason, contributing to his community with dedication and heart
Walter shared countless special moments with his beloved wife, Willie Mae, and together they cultivated a rich family life filled with love and laughter. Their children and grandchildren were at the heart of their joy, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, Walter peacefully departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Willie Mae, his daughter, Barbara Mobley Price, a granddaughter, Stephanie Mobley, his parents, and his siblings: Annie Ruth Mobley, LeAnna Stephens, Ethel Mae Dennard, John Wesley Mobley, John Louis Mobley, and Isaac Mobley.
Walter's memory will continue to thrive through his loving children: Walter Mobley, Jr. (Margaret) of Cordele, Georgia, Patricia Rolle-Holton (Alvin) of Lakeland, Florida, Malissa Mobley-McCloud (Larry) of Cordele, Georgia, Johnecia Yancey (Quincey) of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Linsey Johnson (Connie) of Atlanta, Georgia; 18 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, including a special great-grandson, Jartavious "Trey" Mobley; his loving sisters, Dora Avery of Lake City, Florida, Lucinda Collenton of Jacksonville, Florida, and Lula Mae Mobley of Atlanta, Georgia, many nieces and nephews, to include a devoted niece, Priscilla Rahman of Cordele, Georgia; a host of cousins and friends, to include his dear friends, Mattie Sue Harris, Terry White, Henton Dean, Patsy & Jim Jackson, Rosalind Porter, and George Lester.
Walter Lee Mobley, Sr.'s life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and community. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
