Mrs. Viola Burton Williams of 168 Carter Fish Pond Road, Plains, Georgia died Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at the home of her mother in Americus, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Whole Truth International Ministries in Americus, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Greater Cedar Spring Church Cemetery in Plains, Georgia.
Our beloved, Viola Burton Williams was born to Rosa Mae Burton Solomon and the late William Brown on November 17, 1969. She was born and raised in Sumter County, Georgia.
She received her education in the public schools of Sumter County. At an early age, she joined the Greater Cedar Spring Baptist Church, where she served faithfully.
Viola enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking. For 16+ years she was employed at the Lillian Carter Nursing Center in the Dietary Department.
For 33 years she shared her life with the love of her life and her husband of 23 years, Sherman Williams, Jr.
On Wednesday, January 17, 2024, she peacefully slipped away. In addition to her father she is preceded in death by her step father, Clarence Solomon, Sr.; her mother-in-law, Annie Pearl Williams; her father-in-law, Sherman Williams, Sr.; her sister-in-law, Donna Williams Queenie; her uncles, Henry Burton and Willie Burton; her siblings: Hattie Burton, Pearlie Brown, Clara Mae Brown, and Sally Brown. She is also preceded in death by her goddaughter, Nakevia Sanford.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Sherman Williams, Jr.; her three daughters, Portia Burton and friend, Dontavin Christmas, Sr., Chiquita Burton, and Najayla Williams and friend, Demitri Walters all of Americus, Georgia; six grandchildren, Jamarion King, Ayden Christmas, Khloe Christmas, Kaison Walters, Dontavin Christmas, Jr, and Audriunna Christmas; her mother, Rosa Mae Burton Solomon; six brothers: John Burton of Louisville Kentucky, Eugene Burton of Wisconsin, William Brown, Jr. of Fort Pierce, Florida, Otis Brown of Americus, Georgia, Calvin Brown of Leesburg Georgia, and James Arthur Brown of Smithville Georgia; six sisters, Geneva Brown, Mattie Russell, Evette Dunning, and Cora Lee Brown all of Americus, Georgia, Estella Clinkscale of Columbus Georgia, and Suzette Calhoun of Warner Robins, Georgia; her bonus daughter, Janae Hart; two sisters-in-law, Tammy (Kelvin) Wright of Americus, Georgia and Valarie Smith of New Jersey; two brother -in-law, Timothy (Carlisa) Williams of Warner Robins, Georgia and Marcus (Kimberly) Williams of Americus, Georgia; one uncle, Charlie Burton of Americus, Georgia; two god sisters, Yolynda (Willie) Sanford of Americus, Georgia and Amy Green of Americus, Georgia; her special cousins, Joann Moore, Teresa Hurley- Mann, and Felicia Hurley all of Americus, Georgia, and Clair Burton Johnson of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; a host of nieces and nephews; her devoted best friends, Mary Adams of Leesburg, Georgia, Tracy Griffin, Sharon Mann, Veronica Lyles, Katherine Peterson, Mary Hurley, Shanavia Battle, Janiene Hicks, Carolyn Kleckley, and Kelly Tullis all of Americus, Georgia, and Erica Robinson of Atlanta, Georgia; a host of other relatives and friends that she loved dearly.
