Mrs. Viola Dennard Smith of 4356 Boxwood Trail, Ellenwood, Georgia died Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at her residence.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the J. W. Williams Funeral Home Porte Cochere in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

Our beloved, Viola Dennard Smith was welcomed to this world on July 11, 1948.  She was born in Pontiac, Michigan to the proud parentage of Mr. Tom Dennard and Ms. Willie B. Brown.

Early in life she accepted Christ and united with the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia.  She committed herself to studying, praying and getting into the word of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Viola was a proud graduate of the A. S. Clark High School.  While in high school she was a cheerleader and also participated in other activities.

A family oriented individual, she was an excellent homemaker who always made sure her children, Charlie and Leigh had what was needed.  She enjoyed gardening and planting vegetables.

She was employed as a Para-Pro by the Dekalb County School System at the Bob Mathis School.  Her love for children was always evident; she even volunteered time to chaperone elementary school children.

She enjoyed writing and journaling.  She also enjoyed special moments with her grandchildren, Lauren, Leah, Lindsey, and Alex.

On Tuesday, September 27, 2022, our beloved transitioned from this life to life eternal.  Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Mr. Tom Dennard, Jr., Mr. John D. Dennard, and Mr. Adolphus Dennard.

Cherishing her life, she leaves, her loving and devoted husband, Mr. Charlie Lee Smith, Sr. of Ellenwood, Georgia; her loving and devoted children, Ms. Leigh N. Smith of Decatur, Georgia and Mr. Charlie Lee (Shawnda) Smith, Jr. of Jefferson, Georgia; her loving grandchildren, Mr. Alexander Charles Smith of Decatur, Georgia, Miss Lauren Taylor Smith, Miss Leah Victoria Smith, and Miss Lindsey Reese Smith all of Jefferson, Georgia; her beloved brother, Mr.  Sammy Dennard of Texas; her in-laws, Mrs. Gladys (Rufus) Boddie, Mrs. Estelle (Jesse) Roberts, Mrs. Osie Dean Outlaw, and Mr. Calvin Smith; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
