Mr. Vernice Eugene Emory of 44 Cemetery Road, Rochelle, Georgia, died Friday, April 3, 2026, at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Piney Grove Baptist Church in Rochelle, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Piney Grove Cemetery in Rochelle, Georgia.

Vernice Eugene Emory was born on October 17, 1969, in Hawkinsville, Georgia. He was the beloved son of Joseph Bo Carruthers and Mary Jean Emory. Vernice grew up in the Wilcox County area, where he received his education through the local school system.

From a young age, Vernice was a dedicated member of his community. He was baptized at Piney Grove Baptist Church and remained a member until his passing. His faith remained an important aspect of who he was throughout his life.

For two decades, Vernice was a committed employee at the Wilcox County Road Department. His work ethic and dedication to his job were evident to all who knew him.

Vernice passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Bo Carruthers and Mary Jean Emory.  His grandparents, Pearlie Mae Peavy and Richard Emory, also precede him in death.

Vernice Eugene Emory touched the lives of many through his kindness, dedication, and unwavering spirit. He will be fondly remembered by his family, friends, and community as a loving father, dedicated worker, and faithful community member. His legacy continues in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his children:  Darinique Ravazza (Kevin) of Cordele, Georgia, Zachary McCormick, Vernice Emory, Jr., and Caleb Emory all of Rochelle, Georgia; three grandchildren; his  sisters, Julia Scott of Rochelle, Georgia, Shirrial Lawrence and Carla Carruthers of Florida; his brothers, Joseph Carruthers, Anthony Carruthers, and Roger Carruthers all of Florida and Jerome Emory of Rochelle, Georgia; his aunts and uncles, Norma Emory, Billy Emory, Dorothy Emory, Randy Emory, and Eunge Emory all of Rochelle, Georgia, Bill Carruthers of Americus,  Georgia, Ollie Carruthers of Atlanta, Georgia, Emma Glasco of Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, including, Coy Blackshear, James Martin, Otis Jackson, and Evone Jackson all of Rochelle, Georgia and a host of other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
