Ms. Valerie Lumpkin Toombs of 1335 Pierce Street, Perry, Georgia died Friday, March 15, 2024 at her residence.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Resurrection Baptist Church in Warner Robins, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.
A beautiful spirit was welcomed to this world on July 2, 1965 when Valerie Denise Lumpkin Toombs was born. The daughter of Ulysses Lumpkin and Della Dixon, she was born in Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia.
A believer in the Lord, Jesus Christ, Valerie never waivered in her steadfast commitment to serve God and the people of God. She was a faithful member of Resurrection Baptist Church.
"Missy" as she was affectionately called by her family and friends, received her education in the public schools of Crisp County. She was a proud graduate of Crisp County High School. While in high school she excelled as a member of the Cross Country Track Team and Basketball Team.
For 13 years, she was employed at Perdue Chicken Farms. She also worked for Tyson Chicken Farms for eight years.
On Friday, March 15, 2024, our beloved mother and friend traded the cares of this life for a life free of suffering and pain. Her parents, Ulysses and Della, along with her children, Sameria Lumpkin, Shakena Canady, and Dalvin Newman, each precede her in death. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Janice Lawson and Reginald Dixon.
Her life and her love will be cherished by her loving and devoted family: her children, Colitta Lumpkin of Perry, Georgia, Santrean Adams of Locust Grove, Georgia, and Trayvion Wynn of Fitzgerald, Georgia; her grandchildren, Taison Lumpkin-Glover, Patrick Ellis, Jr., Syniah Lumpkin, Landen Holmes, Mia Harris, Layla Holmes, Leilani Holmes and Jahniece Newman; his sisters, Ruthie Lumpkin Thornton, Belinda Lumpkin-Brown, Cheryl Lawson, and Verdell Lumpkin of Fitzgerald, Georgia and Connie Lumpkin of Oklahoma; her brothers, Kent Lawson of Missouri and James Lumpkin of Fitzgerald, Georgia; her aunts and uncle, Eddie Mae Taylor, Gloria Dixon, Frankie (Cathie) Dixon of Cordele, Georgia; several nieces and nephews, to include, Latoya Dixon of Alabama and Daravian Dixon of Cordele, Georgia; a host of cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
