United States Army Veteran, Mr. Timothy Brown of 312 Spruce Lane, Vienna, Georgia, died Monday, May 19, 2025, at Emory University Midtown Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial, with military honors, will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services must wear a mask and practice social distancing.  A mask must be worn throughout the stay.  You must supply your mask.

Timothy Brown was born on October 5, 1951, in Crisp County, Georgia, to the late Frank Gordon, Jr., and the late Annie Lou Brown Barrett. A man of great character and warmth, "Brown" as he was called, made a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.

Timothy attended A. S. Clark High School and later joined the Job Corps, where he earned his GED. Driven by a sense of duty and patriotism, he enlisted in the United States Army. Timothy served with distinction during the Vietnam War, earning numerous commendations and medals for his bravery and dedication. His service concluded with an honorable discharge, a testament to his commitment and integrity.

From a young age, Timothy was involved in his faith community. He attended Mildale Baptist Church as a child and later became a member of Davis Chapel CME Church. His love for his community was evident through his frequent fellowshipping with churches in the area.

Timothy had a multitude of interests that brought joy to his life and those around him. He loved cooking and was especially fond of spending time with children, who adored him in return. A lover of "old school" music, he found joy fishing, reading, and watching westerns.

Timothy was married to Dorothea Hargrove Brown, and they cherished their life together until her passing on December 30, 2016. His legacy is one of love, dedication, and resilience. His life touched many, and his memory will continue to inspire those who knew him.

He is survived by a large, loving family, including:  his stepchildren,  Freda H. Granville (Leroy Jr.) of Vienna, Georgia, William Brown of Jersey City, New Jersey and Willie Montague, Jr. (Kniosha) of Newport News, Virginia; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;  his sisters, Shirley A. Harvey of Cordele, Georgia, Angeline B. Jones of Cordele, Georgia, Diane Shorter of Jonesboro, Georgia and Iris E. Gordon of Dayton, Ohio; his brothers,  Frank L. Brown (Jackie) of Jacksonville, North Carolina, William B. Gordon of Dayton, Ohio, Bobbie F. Gordon (Leila) of Dayton, Ohio, David Barrett (Betty) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Wilmon Barrett (Cassandra) of Cordele, Georgia his brothers-in-law, John Hargrove of Jersey City, New Jersey and Timothy Hargrove of Jersey City, New Jersey; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, including, Freddie B. Lowe, Virginia   Williams and Steve & Kathy Barrett; and many sorrowing friends, including, Calvin Smith.
