Thomas Allen Jones was born on February 26, 1952, in Arabi, Georgia, to George Buford Jones and Emma Jean Armstrong. He peacefully departed this life on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Crisp Regional Hospital. After many years away, Thomas had recently returned home to Crisp County to be closer to family following the passing of his beloved wife, a chapter that brought him both comfort and renewed connection.

He graduated from AS Cark High School in 1970. Shortly thereafter, Thomas moved to Washington, D.C., where he set out to build a new life and future. It was there that he met the love of his life, Linda Louise Risby. The two were united in marriage on May 26, 1978, at Shiloh Baptist Church of Washington, D.C. Their union was blessed on July 7, 1980, with the birth of their son, LeVar Allen Jones. For more than 40 years, Thomas and Linda created a warm, steady, joyful life in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area—rooted in faith, family, and community.

Thomas was a hardworking man whose life reflected quiet strength, dedication, and pride in a job well done. As a maintenance technician, he committed himself to ensuring that schools, community buildings, and public spaces were welcoming and well cared for. His work ethic, attention to detail, and unwavering dependability became hallmarks of his character and a reflection of the love he carried for the people and places around him.

Outside of work, Thomas was a man of simple joys and deep passions. A devoted sports fan, especially when it came to his Dallas Cowboys, he loved good BBQ, tending to his thriving garden, and spending meaningful time with his family. Whether cheering on his team, sharing a meal, or nurturing the plants he cared for so deeply, Thomas found happiness in the everyday moments that make life full.

Thomas will be remembered for his kindness, his humility, his sense of humor, and the love he gave generously and without condition. His  legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the example he set through a lifetime of dedication, love, and quiet resilience.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, George and Emma Jean and beloved wife, Linda. He leaves to mourn his absence, his son, LeVar Allen Jones of Atlanta, Georgia; his siblings, Bobby Jones (Dorothy) and Lucy Trice (James) of Cordele, Georgia, Betty Daniels (Alonzo) of Lilly, Georgia, Rochester Jones of Marlon, New Jersey, Evelyn Appling (Gary), Sandra Jones, Barbara Haugabrook (Freddie), Charles Jones, all of Cordele, Georgia, Crystal Renay Jones of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Felicia Vereen of Stone Mountain, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
