Obituary

The Reverend Leonard Boston of 951 Pleasant Valley Road, Vienna, Georgia died Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, December 17, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Church of the Living God in Vienna, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Vienna City Cemetery in Vienna, Georgia.

On November 5, 1947, Sylvester & Deotis Boston welcome a son, who they named Leonard.  He was raised by his loving  grandmother, Carrie L. Boston and his great uncle, Ed (Louise) Boston, all of who precede him in death.

He was educated in the Dooly County School System and was a 1967 high school graduate.  He heard the voice of the Lord and heeded the call to preach in 1976.  He faithfully proclaimed God's word until his death. Over the years he served as Pastor of several churches, namely: Friendship Baptist Church, Findley, Georgia, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Vienna, Georgia, Mt. Able Baptist Church, Lee County, Georgia, Friendship Baptist Church, Desota, Georgia, Holly Grove Baptist Church, Pinehurst, Georgia,  Bethlehem Baptist Church, Plains, Georgia and Spring Hill Baptist Church, Cordele, Georgia.

On February 21, 1976, he was joined in Holy matrimony to the former Lucille Towns.  This union was blessed with the birth of a son, Hymetheus K. Boston.

On Saturday, December 9, 2023 our beloved Reverend Leonard Boston heard the voice of Jesus bidding him to come.  Because he heard what we could not hear and because he saw a light we could not see, he surrendered to the will of God.  He is also preceded in death by his siblings: Carlton Bohanon, Eddie Frank West and Georgia Smith.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Lucille Towns Boston; three children, Dionisio (Hedi) Bembery, Shontay L. (Jonathan) Smith and Hymetheus K. (Tesha) Boston; a god son, Zantonio M. Towns; eight grandchildren, Dionisio Bembery, Jr., Damarco Bembery, Sydney Bembery, Haley Bembery, Jaquarius Davis, Jaquez Davis, Jordarius Z. Boston and Jakobe Smith; one great granddaughter, Jade Davis; a brother, Terry (Donna) Boston; his sisters, Cynthia Bryant, Dorothy Lamar, Jacquelyn Smith, Judy F. (Clarence) Williams, Catherine (Lewis) Burden, Regina  Morgan, Mae Frances West, and Rosie L. Petties; his in-laws, Henry (Tracy) Towns, Jr., William L. Towns, Vanester (Joseph) Dobbins, Faye (Nathaniel) Nance, Evelyn (Joseph) Huell, and Eva (Luther) Chaney; his devoted nieces and nephews, Kaneise Bembery, Tantisha Sneed, Regina (John) Mathis, Tangela West, Asha Bembery, Andrea Barthell, Shala West, Catricia Towns, Timothy Dobbins, and Relvert (Yolanda) Dobbins; a host of   nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
