Obituary

Ms. Tamera Richshell Carter of 903 Hawkins Street, Americus, Georgia died Thursday, March 7, 2024 at the St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Friendship Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery in Americus, Georgia.

Our beloved, Tamera (Tootsie) Carter was born to Sarah Boone and the late Willie "Billy" Carter on August 27, 1994. She was born and raised in Sumter County, Georgia.

She received her education in the public schools of Sumter County and went to pursue her education in Health Care.

A wonderfully made soul filled with so much love and she showed it upon anyone she came in contact with. Tamera enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her love and passion for people inspired her to become an   educator.

Tamera was the proud business owner of Clean Healing and was also one of the candidates nominated as Educator of the Year for the 6th Annual GirlBoss Awards Gala. She had a mentorship program that catered to young girls ages ten to twenty year olds by the name of H.E.R. (Helping Elevate Girls).

On Thursday, March 7, 2024, she peacefully slipped away. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her grandparents, Annie Maude Boone, Otis Alford, and Frances Carter Haugabook; and her aunt, Shurone Boone.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her mother, Sarah Boone; five sisters, Crystal (Kendrick) Woodham, Brianna (Kourtney) Bridges, Christy Carter, Chez' Mansfield of Americus, Georgia and Chevell Green of Tampa, Florida; five brothers, Taurus (Daphne) Hubbard of Macon, Georgia, Montrell (Lakisha) Merritt of Macon, Georgia, Tranard (Ashley) McGriff of Chesapeake, Virginia, Lavoris West and Briton Carter of Americus, Georgia; her devoted niece and nephews, Ka'Maurie Woodham, Jataveus Harvey and Jaquarius Woodham of Americus, Georgia; her god children, Rylan Lundy, Caiden Horton, Khyree Laster,   Krislyn Muff and Marquis Ware, Jr. of Americus, Georgia; five aunts, Diane Boone, Mae (Dennis) Carter, Suzette Boone, Cheryle (Ertell) Henry, Tabitha (Scotty) Green, Shunda (Danny) Blackmon all of Americus, Georgia; six uncles, Troy (Jamie) Boone, Jeffery (Cheryl) Boone, Bobby (Dee) Cobb, Reggie Mann, Darron Mann and Sammie (Demetria) Bridges of Americus, Georgia; her devoted and loving significant other of 10 years, Brianna Terry of Columbus, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who she loved dearly.
