Mr. Sylvester Perkins of 106 Larkspur Lane, Americus, Georgia, died Monday, January 12, 2026, at his residence.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 3:30 PM in the sanctuary of the Zion Hope Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia.  The burial will follow at Staley Memorial Gardens in Americus, Georgia.

Sylvester Perkins was born on June 23, 1945, in Schley County, Georgia, and was the beloved son of Clarence Perkins and Hattie Belle Precious Harpe Perkins. His life was a testament to quiet strength, deep love, and unwavering integrity. As a devoted husband, father, and loyal friend, he touched the lives of many, offering kindness without condition and support without hesitation.

Sylvester was known for his gentle demeanor and towering presence, both in stature and spirit. He was humble, hard-working, and dependable, showcasing his love more through his actions than his words. As a true "Jack of all trades," his skilled hands brought beauty and care through carpentry and painting, always willing to help others without seeking recognition. Though often soft-spoken, Sylvester's wit surfaced in thoughtful moments, leaving smiles and lasting impressions.

Sylvester Perkins's life was a beautiful reflection of love, kindness, and dedication. His legacy lives on through his family and the countless lives he touched with his generosity and warmth. He will be remembered as a remarkable man who left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Traditional in his values and steady in his character, Sylvester leaves behind a legacy of love, faithfulness, and  quiet excellence that will be deeply missed and forever cherished. He passed away on January 12, 2026.  Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Eileen Carter, Christine Carter, Mary Henry, Vera Johnson, Geraldine Perry, Walter Perkins, and Larry Perkins.

Sylvester is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Marie  Moffett Perkins of Americus, Georgia; his children, Tracy (Dennis) Manning of Americus, GA, Cheryl Fuller (Elmore) of Albany, GA, Kertiss Baisden (Pamela) of Atlanta, GA, Sylvester Baisden of Americus, GA, Eddie Perkins (Latasha) of Medina, TN,  Danielle Williams (Mark) of Reynolds, GA, Dominique Deriso (David) of Plains, GA, Barbara Baisden Mitchell of Americus, GA, Bobby Baisden (Timika) of Riverdale, GA, Charles Baisden of College Park, GA and Latavia Perkins of Americus, GA; his devoted stepchildren, Janella Johnson of Jacksonville, FL, Ericka Lamar of Fayetteville, GA, Willie Lamar Jr. of Americus, GA and Cristy Hardy (Avery) of Douglasville, GA; 37 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; his sisters, Annie Kate Williamson of Ellaville, GA and Bernice Hill of North Carolina; his brother-in-law, Clarence Henry of Greensboro, NC; his devoted friends, Eugene "Rabbit" Coleman of Cedartown, GA and Clarence Slappey of Americus, GA; his  devoted caretaker, Jamilla "Sheree" Kitchens; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
