Mr. Spencer Leonard McKenzie of 1903 Turner Street, Cordele Georgia died Thursday July 18, 2024 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Friday, July 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Greater Gum Creek Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.
Spencer Leonard McKenzie also known as "SpenLee" was born in Vero Beach, Florida on November 3, 1972. He was born to Julia Ann Brown and Albert McKenzie, Sr.
Spencer transitioned from this life on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Jesse Lee Brown, and his grandmother, Ms. Gladys McKenzie.
Spencer grew up in The Church of God Tabernacle True Holiness in Vero Beach, Florida. He was introduced to the Lord by his grandmother, Pastor Ethel Mae Brown. He also attended the Greater Gum Creek Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia.
SpenLee was well known throughout the community as the "neighborhood barber." His works and talent spanned from the heart of Cordele, Georgia all the way down to Gifford, Florida. He held plenty of jobs before being employed at Jerry's Auto Body. He was big on family. He enjoyed breeding dogs, fishing, and everyone knew he loved Trump.
He is survived by his loving and caring family: his parents, Julia Ann Brown (Solomon Haugabrook) of Cordele, Georgia and Albert McKenzie of Vero Beach, Florida; his children, La'Shanique Felton, Miaze' Felton, and Javargus West all of Cordele, Georgia; ten grandchildren, Ky'Mari, Justyce, August, Javargus Jr., McKeal, Jorden, Dallas, Paxton, Ar'Miaze, and Jaquavion; his sisters, Rolonda Haugabrook of Cordele, Georgia and Zanobia McKenzie of Atlanta, Georgia; his brothers, Ricardio McKenzie of Cordele, Georgia and Tony McKenzie; his grandmother, Pastor Ethel Mae Brown of Vero Beach, Florida; his aunts and uncles, Beauty Davis of Warner Robins, Georgia, Evelyn Bell, Debra "Libby" Page, and Mercy (Marvin) Ross of Vero Beach, Florida, Matlin Lockhart of Atlanta, Georgia, Jessie M. McCray, Carolyn Gordon of Covington, Georgia, Brenda McKenzie of Sebastian, Florida, Vernice (James) Brown of Leesburg, Florida, Vera (Reginald) Holliday of McDonough, Georgia, and Tammy McKenzie of Orlando, Florida; two nephews, Erin Appling of Cordele, Georgia and Ricardio McKenzie, Jr. of Florida; a host of other relatives and many sorrowing friends, to include his special friends, Romer Jackson, Sr., Todd Hill, and James Bell.
