Mrs. Shirley Dukes Zellner of 314 West Madison Avenue, Ashburn, Georgia passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Pruitt Health in Ashburn, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia. The burial will follow at Westview Memorial Gardens in Ashburn, Georgia.
Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services must wear a mask and practice social distancing. A mask must be worn throughout the stay. You must supply your mask.
On December 10, 1954, our dearly loved Shirley Dukes Zellner was born in Brent Alabama. She was born to the proud parentage of Ellis Dukes and Teresa Green. Her parents along with her siblings, Ellis Dukes, Jr., Charles Dukes, Johnny Dukes, Betty Heard, Deborah Kendrick, and Fredrick Green, precede her in death.
Affectionately known as "Cooky" to her family and friends, she received her education from the public school of Turner County. She was a graduate of Eureka High School.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and worshipped at the New Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia.
On Sunday, November 24, 2024, she was set free from the cares of this life. She is also preceded in death by her stepson, Antonio D. Holmes, Sr. and her son-in-law, Darren Gipson.
Many wonderful memories will forever be cherished by her loving and devoted family: her husband, Tarrance Zellner of Ashburn, Georgia; her children, Roshundra Martin (Collier) of Atlanta, Georgia, Sherrine Gipson and Lewanda Bateman (Patrick) of Ashburn, Georgia; her stepson, Arthur Roy Holmes, Jr. (Linda) of Tifton, Georgia; her grandchildren, Desmond Holmes of Albany, Georgia, Antonio Holmes, Jr. of Lawton, Oklahoma, Zycheria Holmes and Sherkeial Carithers of Albany, Georgia, Miesha Stubbins and Dre'Quan Gipson of Ashburn, Georgia; her brothers, Alexander Green, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia and Edward "Pete" Walker of Ashburn, Georgia; a host of nieces and nephews, to include her special nephews, Travis Quarterman of Atlanta, Georgia and Tommy Mayes of Ashburn, Georgia; a host of other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
