Mrs. Shamekia Sherrie Dennis Hunt of New Caney, Texas, formerly of Cordele, Georgia, died on Monday, January 19, 2026, at her residence.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia.

Shamekia Sherrie Dennis Hunt was born on July 12, 1980, to Joyce (Gabriel) Sanchez and Robert Dennis. She was raised in the Crisp County School System, where she received her education. From a young age, Shamekia embraced her faith, accepting Christ as the head of her life. She became an active member of the Greater   Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she shared her voice in the Junior Choir.

Shamekia's life journey took her to New Jersey, where she met and married Hemmy Sasi. They were blessed with a son, Mukora Deuntaye Sasi, who was a source of love and joy for them. After her first marriage ended, Shamekia found love again with Tobias Hunt, whom she married later on.

Shamekia faced the challenge of battling breast cancer with remarkable strength and positivity. She used her personal experience to educate and support others, providing insight from her own perspective as a cancer survivor. Her kindness and positive spirit were unwavering, even in the face of adversity.

Among Shamekia's proudest achievements was her involvement with the Pink Forever Organization, where she continued to make an impact despite her ongoing battle with cancer. Her entrepreneurial spirit remained strong as she thrived as a business owner.

Her journey took an inspiring turn when she met Demetrius L. Witherspoon during a cancer awareness commercial. Impressed by her determination, he invited her to participate in his Submerge Universe Sci-fi film, where she brought the character Queen Rain to life.

On January 19, 2026, Shamekia transitioned to eternal life after a 16-year battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her  grandparents, George & Minnie Cornelious, William Henry & Louise Dennis, and her nephew Kaiden Deese.

Shamekia leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience.  She is  survived by her husband, Tobias Hunt, her parents, Joyce (Gabriel) Sanchez and Robert Dennis, and her beloved son, Mukora D. Sasi of Conroe, Texas. Her memory is cherished by her siblings:     Maurice (Chanel) Dennis of Blue Ridge Mountains, Tennessee; Berkima Collier of Indianapolis, Indiana; Gabriel Sanchez, Jr. of Bethesda, Maryland; Senobia Sanches of Champaign, Illinois; Rebecca Powell, Shakeema Powell, and Charles Dennis, all of  Cordele, Georgia. She is also remembered by a large extended  family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends who mourn her passing.

Shamekia's life was a testament to the power of faith, love, and  unyielding strength in the face of life's trials. Her influence and spirit will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.
