Williams, Sr.
Nov 24, 1965 — Apr 4, 2026
Lizella
United States Army Veteran, Mr. Sean Thomas Williams, Sr. of Lizella, Georgia, died Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Piedmont Macon Hospital in Macon, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 9:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Turkey Creek Baptist Church in Lilly, Georgia. The burial, with military honors, will follow at the Andersonville National Cemetery in Andersonville, Georgia.
Sean Thomas Williams, Sr. was born on November 24, 1965, in Steubenville, Ohio, to Mae Charlene Williams and Joseph Williams Jr. He was a devoted son and a proud graduate of Steubenville (Big Red) High School, Class of 1984.
Following his graduation, Sean answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He faithfully served as a Heavy Equipment Operator and earned numerous commendations, including the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal, Expert Badge with M16 Rifle Bar, and Expert Badge with Hand Grenade Bar.
A man of deep faith, Sean loved the Lord and was actively involved in his church communities. He served in the Youth Ministry at Turkey Creek Baptist Church and the Kitchen Ministry at Camp Creek Baptist Church. Sean found great joy in cooking and sharing meals with loved ones—his famous broccoli salad will be fondly remembered by all who tasted it. He also had a lifelong passion for music, having played the trombone in his younger years. Sean caught his first fish at the age of 5 and loved fishing his entire life. He was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his team.
Above all, Sean cherished his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who gave selflessly and supported those around him with a generous and compassionate heart.
Sean was preceded in death by his parents, Mae Charlene Williams Mayo, and Joseph Williams Jr.; his beloved aunt, Dollie McKoy; his uncle, Willie McKoy; and his sister, Jervita Burden.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Valinda Edwards Williams; his children, Sean Thomas Williams, Jr. of Vienna, Georgia, and De'Ja Williams (Cortney) Clark; his cherished grandchildren, Ceth, Celeste and Chief Clark of Perry, Georgia; his brothers, Royal Mayo III of Steubenville, Ohio, and Brandon (Aeeda) Mayo of Las Vegas, Nevada; his sisters, Corina (Robert) Barrow of Evans, Georgia, Amber Williams, Melonea Williams, and Katrina Williams of Warner Robins, Georgia, Stephanie Williams of Aberdeen, North Carolina, Rosalyn Fields of Albany, Georgia, Barbara Ann Cross of Atlanta, Georgia, Michelle Williams of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jovette Forbes of St. Petersburg, Florida; his two special cousins, Raquel Yetts and Regina Williams, two beloved bonus children, Tiaira Owens and Tydrian Taylor; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sean's life was a testament to love, service, and faith, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
