Mr. Sammie Lee Hill, Sr. of 411 West 7th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia died Thursday, May 1, 2025, at his residence.

The funeral service will be held Friday, May 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services is required to wear a mask and to practice social distancing.  A mask must be worn throughout the stay.  You must supply your own mask.

Sammie Lee Hill, Sr. was born on July 22, 1954, in Warwick, Worth County, Georgia, to Eugene Hill and Mary Godfrey Hill. Known to     everyone as "Big Daddy", he grew up in a supportive family environment and received his education through the public school system. Sammie graduated from Crisp County High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts and Science, demonstrating his commitment to personal growth and learning.

Sammie was a devout believer in Jesus Christ and an active member of the Beulahland Missionary Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia. His faith was an integral part of his life, and he was actively involved in the church's male choir, sharing his love of music and community.

Sammie's dedication to serving others was evident in his career. He spent over 20 years working for the City of Cordele as a police officer,  showcasing his commitment to public safety and community welfare. Sammie retired with honor as a Captain of the force and was additionally a member of the Police Auxiliary, where he continued to contribute his time and expertise.

Outside of his professional life, "Big Daddy" was an avid card player who   enjoyed the camaraderie and strategy of games like Dominoes. He also loved fishing, cooking, and spending quality time with his family. These hobbies highlighted his appreciation for life's simple pleasures and his strong family bonds.

Sammie's life was marked by dedication, love, and service. His commitment to his family, faith, and community serves as an enduring inspiration to all who knew him. His legacy is one of kindness, integrity, and unwavering devotion to the people and principles he cherished.

Sammie Lee Hill, Sr. transitioned on Thursday, May 1, 2025. He was  preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jean Myles. Sammie's legacy lives on through his family and community.

Big Daddy is survived by his loving wife, Alice Latrice Hill of Cordele, Georgia, and his children: Natley (Alexis) McCloud, Nichole (Will)  Brinson of Warner Robins, Georgia, Sammy (Jennifer) Hill, Jr. of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Jarmal Hill of Cordele, Georgia; his grandchildren, Jarvis Brinson, Sr. and JaKhoury Brinson of Warner Robins, Georgia, JaKhaury Brinson of Cordele, Georgia, Jarrett Brinson of Yucca Valley, California, Kanya Brinson of Albany, Georgia, Kyla Brinson, Kyra Brinson, and Kynsley Brinson of Warner Robins, Georgia, Iyanna Hill, Taliyah Hill, Sammy M. Hill, and Jayden Hill of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Jarmal Rashad Hill of Lee County, Georgia, Sha'Niya Keona McCloud and Jahzara Aliyonna Hill of Cordele, Georgia, and DonTavious Thomas o Warner Robins, Georgia; his great-grandchildren; his sisters, Annie Lee Daniel and Diane Ford of  Cordele, Georgia, his brother, Sammie Eugene Hill of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; his sisters-in-law, Ruby Coleman and Katherine Reese, and his brothers-in-law, Ozie (Maudell) Smith and Roosevelt Smith; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends.
