Mr. Russell Dawson, Sr. of 162 Pearl Street, Cordele, Georgia, died Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

Russell Dawson, Sr. was born on January 5, 1969, to Johnny Dawson and Mary (Vince) Marshall. He was a cherished  member of his family, with his father, his loving brother, Elder Johnny Dawson, and his beloved sister, Debra Dawson, preceding him in death.

Russell's early years began in Louisiana but soon took him to Georgia, where he spent the remainder of his childhood. He embraced his faith early on, accepting Christ into his life. His education was rooted in the Turner County Public School system, where he established the foundation for his future endeavors.

Russell embarked on a fulfilling career in trucking, dedicating over 30 years to life on the road. His journey as a truck driver  concluded at Sexton Trucking Company in Camilla, Georgia, where he left a lasting impression with his colleagues and clients alike. Russell's vibrant personality and welcoming nature earned him the reputation of never meeting a stranger. To know him was   indeed to love him.

On June 11, 2025, Russell Dawson, Sr. transitioned from this life, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. His life was a testament to love, friendship, and the joy of  making   meaningful connections with everyone he encountered. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Debra Dawson, of Cordele, Georgia, and his beloved children: Avian Dawson of  Tifton, Georgia, Raphel Dawson of Dallas, Texas, and Russell and Rashod Dawson of Austell, Georgia; his stepchildren: Angelica Barrett of Perry, Georgia, Askalonia Barrett, Gabrielle Daniels, and Dino Lemmons, Jr., all of Cordele, Georgia; two grandchildren, A'Nari Hill of Cordele, Georgia, and Anthony Morrow of Tifton, Georgia; his loving and caring mother, Mary (Vince) Marshall of Sylvester, Georgia; his sisters: Vanessa (Donnie) Greene of Jackson, Mississippi, Shamika Hille of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Carla Dawson of Atlanta, Georgia, Connie (Kevin) West of Cordele, Georgia, and Chastity Green of Vienna, Georgia. His brothers include Curtis (Kizzi) Dawson of Alpharetta, Georgia, Jonifer Dawson of Covington, Georgia, Trae (Tomeka) Hille of Grayson, Georgia, Johnny Dawson, Steven Dawson of Cordele, Georgia, and Jason Gaines of Hawkinsville, Georgia; his uncles, Lester Williams of Ashburn, Georgia, and  Artis Dawson of Cordele, Georgia; his in-laws, Laura Daniels of Warner Robins, Georgia, Kederia Gaston of Cordele, Georgia, Monica (Leonard) Barrett of Perry, Georgia, and Kelvin Daniels of Cordele, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving friends.
