Mr. Rufus Dwight, Jr. of 303 West 26th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia died Thursday, March 3, 2022 at his residence.

Rufus Dwight, Jr. was born on July 7, 1944 to the late Rufus Dwight, Sr. and the late Martha Brown Gamble.  He was a native of Abbeville, Georgia.   He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Valerie Yvette King; his sisters, Dorothy Oliver and Rose Merry Dykes; his brothers, Eddie Lee Oliver, Alexis Gamble, and Carl Gamble, and his grandparents, Ed Brown and Willie Mae Brown.

Rufus received his education in the public schools of Rochelle, Georgia.  He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Rochelle, Georgia.  He worked as a Truck Driver and a Concrete Manufacturer until he retired.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Dewayne Dwight of Cordele, Georgia, Mr. Rufus (Henrietta) Holmes of Locus Grove, Georgia, Reginald Dwight, Michael Dwight, and Bruce Dwight all of Cordele, Georgia; 13 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; his sisters, Nancy Street of Cordele, Georgia, Martha Montalvo of Wichita, Kansas, and Carolyn Gamble of Cordele, Georgia; his brothers, James Dwight of Cordele, Georgia and Casey Gamble of Statesboro, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many sorrowing friends.
