Ms. Ruby Dell Atkins of 2108 Garden Wood Court, Atlanta, Georgia, died Monday, June 2, 2025, at her residence.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 3:30 PM in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services is required to wear a mask and to practice social distancing.  A mask must be worn throughout the stay.  You must supply your own mask.

Ruby Dell Atkins was a cherished soul who left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Born on August 16, 1951, in Cordele, Georgia, she was the beloved daughter of Thomas Atkins, Sr., and Bernice Wade Atkins. Her journey through life was marked by love, laughter, and dedication to her family and community.

Ruby's early years were spent in Cordele, where she formed the foundation of her character and values. She attended A. S. Clark High School and graduated in 1970. During her formative years, Ruby was an active member of Beulahland Baptist Church in Cordele, later joining Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, where her faith continued to grow.

Ruby was known for her culinary skills, working as a cook at Fast Stop and Southwestern Elementary School. Her love for cooking was rivaled only by her passion for singing and dancing. Ruby was truly the life of the party, bringing joy and energy to every gathering she attended. Her vibrant personality and infectious smile earned her many endearing nicknames, including "Shane," "Guh," and "Ruby D.com."

Ruby's life revolved around her family and friends, whom she cherished deeply. She departed this life on Monday, June 2, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. She was  preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Brenda Atkins Martin, Rosa Atkins Stokes, Thomas Atkins, Jr., and Richard   Atkins.

Ruby Dell Atkins will forever be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the joy she brought into the lives of those around her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will continue to celebrate her life and cherish the memories they shared.

Her memory lives on through her loving companion, Rufus Carter of  Cordele, Georgia; her  loving daughter, Subrina Atkins of Atlanta, Georgia; her adored grandchildren, Jaliyah Atkins, Darkerria Sanders, Jarrett Atkins, and Jiya Atkins all of Atlanta, Georgia; her great-grandchildren, Skylar  Hawkins and Samaria Atkins; her loving sisters, Mary (Buford) Royal of Cordele, Georgia, Johnnie (Earl) Butler of Riverdale, Georgia, Antionette Hurley of Leesburg, Georgia, Marquita Greene of Conley, Georgia, Geraldine (Charles) Putman of Cordele, Georgia, and Catherine Massey of Atlanta, Georgia; her caring brothers, John (Gwen) Atkins of Riverdale, Georgia, Charles (Judy) Atkins of Atlanta, Georgia and Ricky (Chiquita) Atkins of Killeen, Texas; her uncle, Anthony (Ann) Wade of Albany, Georgia, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends.
