Mr. Roy Lee Douglas of 530 West Washington Avenue, Ashburn, Georgia, died Sunday, May 31, 2026, at his residence.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 3:30 PM in the sanctuary of the New Providence Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia. The burial will follow at Westview Memorial Garden in Ashburn, Georgia.
Roy Lee Douglas was born on August 13, 1952, in Butts County, Georgia. He was the beloved son of Jack Jefferson Douglas, Sr., and Rosa Mae Jackson Douglas. His formative years were spent in Turner County, where he attended Eureka Heights as part of his education in the public school system.
Roy was a member of New Providence Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia. His faith was a cornerstone of his life.
Roy found joy in a variety of activities that connected him to nature and his community. He enjoyed fishing and appreciated the simple pleasures of spending time outdoors. His work included concrete work, lawn care, demolition jobs, and hauling scrap metal, reflecting a robust and industrious spirit.
Roy was married to former Catherine Brown, with whom he shared a life full of love and family. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating lasting memories that they will hold dear.
Roy Lee Douglas passed away on May 31, 2026. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ida B. Lawhorn, Robert L. Douglas, Sr., and Jack Jefferson Douglas, Jr.
His legacy lives on through his surviving family, who carry forward his memory and values: his wife, Catherine Brown Douglas of Ashburn, Georgia; his children, Jefferson Douglas of Ashburn, Georgia, Roy Lee Brown of Ashburn, Georgia, De'Angelo (Estra) Douglas of Sycamore, Georgia, Robert Brown of Ashburn, Georgia, and Renata Douglas of Ashburn, Georgia; his stepchildren, Brenda Brown of Ashburn, Georgia, Herman (Brentina) Brown of Maryland, Gregory Brown of Ashburn, Georgia and Xavier Brown of Ashburn, Georgia; his grandchildren, Kashanae Martin, Osheana Douglas, Ashley Smith, Kameara Brown, Au'Monus Carrione, De'Angelo Mangum, Dy'lan Douglas, and Immeriun Carradine; five great-grandchildren; his aunt, Rosa B. Jackson of Buena Vista, Georgia; his sister-in-law, Diane Taylor; his brother-in-law, Robert (Tracy) Wilson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
