Mr. Ronnie Thomas of Rochelle, Georgia, died Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Community Hospice & Palliative Care in Jacksonville, Florida.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Piney Grove Baptist Church in Rochelle, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Piney Grove Cemetery in Rochelle, Georgia.
Ronnie Thomas, born on April 12, 1957, in Wilcox County, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Community Hospice and Palliative Care in Jacksonville, Florida. He was a beloved individual who touched the lives of many throughout his journey.
Ronnie was the cherished son of Willie Brown Thomas and Sylvester Anderson Thomas, both of whom have preceded him in death. Educated in the public schools of Wilcox County, he was a 1975 graduate of Wilcox County High School. While in high school he was a linebacker for the football team. Raised in a loving family, Ronnie joined the Piney Grove Baptist Church at an early age and carried forward the values and traditions instilled in him by his parents.
Ronnie Thomas's life was a testament to love, family, and resilience. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by everyone whose lives he touched.
Ronnie's enduring legacy is carried on by his beloved family: his children: Laketa Blair (Damion) of Jacksonville, Florida, Brad Deans of Rochelle, Georgia, and Alexis Wright of Jacksonville, Florida; his grandchildren, Melynda Mizell, Kenneth Merritt, Melanie Mizell-Bray, Brayuna Shyliyah Mariah Deans, Bradford Denorris Deans, Jr., Brad Kase Deans, Khallenger Kaoir Marie Deans, Kaitlyn Brinkley, and Jayden Smith; his great-grandchildren, Josiah Merritt and Love Merritt; his sisters, Willie Mae Rodgers, Flora Thomas, and Patricia Way all of Atlanta, Georgia, and Barbara Ann McAdoo of Fort Pierce, Florida; his brothers, Sherman Thomas (Vanzena) of Ellenwood, Georgia, Willie Thomas, Jr., (Candi) of Killeen, Texas, and Wilbert Thomas of Atlanta, Georgia; his aunts and uncles, Steven Anderson of Atlanta, Georgia, Harry Anderson of Vienna, Georgia, David Anderson (Sylvia) of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Gracie Anderson of Atlanta, Georgia; a special friend, Betty Powell of Cordele, Georgia; his nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
