United States Army Veteran, Mr. Rodney Dean Hunter of 207 Norman Lane, Warner Robins, Georgia died Tuesday, October 4, 2022.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the J. W. Williams Funeral Home Porte Cochere in Cordele, Georgia.

The committal service will be Tuesday,, December 6, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

Mr. Rodney Hunter, 1st Sergeant - U. S. Army, 82nd Airborne, was born to Elton Hunter, Jr. and Edna Geraldine Hunter in Greensboro, North Carolina.  His     father preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn - wife, Gloria Hunter, Warner Robins, Georgia and mother, Edna Geraldine Hunter of Macon, Georgia.

Four daughters - Edna Hunter (Chris Robinson), Adrian Hunter and Ebony Hunter all of Albany, Georgia, and Laquthia Cross (Jerome Jordan), Gilbert, Arizona.

Three brothers - Alfonzo (Beverly) Harris, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Edwin Mark Hunter, Sr., Union City, Georgia, and Elton (Willon) Hunter, III.

Two sisters, Deatrice (Vernon) Harris,  Montezuma, Georgia and Amy Tharpe Peterson, Oakland, California.

Aunts and Uncles -  Celestine Hunter, Atlanta, Georgia, Sadie Graham, Linda Purvis, Elaine Graham all of Greensboro, North Carolina, Phyllis Graham, James  Mackiell (Lorraine) Hunter of Sarasota, Florida, and Anthony (Linda) Purvis.

He was a grandfather who dearly loved all nine grandchildren and was a devoted uncle to many nieces and nephews.  He loved a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.

Mr. Hunter is a 1982 graduate of D. F. Douglass High School, Montezuma, Georgia.  He was a member of 1981 D. F. Douglass Hornets Football State Championship Team (GHSA—A) .

He joined Union Baptist Church at an early age.

He served as a 1st Sergeant - U. S. Army 82nd Airborne   Infantry Division - Paratrooper Unit.

He attended Savannah State College on a football scholarship.

Mr. Hunter was much loved by his wife, family and all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
