Mrs. Rhondalyn Elizabeth Wright West of 1102 South 12th Street, Cordele, Georgia died Saturday, August 20, 2022 at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the A. S. Clark Auditorium on the M. D. Whitest Medical Institute Campus in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

On February 9, 1954, God blessed Joseph "Joe" Wright and Gladys Robinson Wright with a sweet baby girl whom they named, Rhondalyn Elizabeth.  She was  affectionately called "Lyn."

Lyn transitioned from this earthly life on Saturday, August 20, 2022 after a hard fought battle with cancer.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Rhondalyn began her childhood education at Southview Elementary School.  One of her fondest memories was being crowned Miss Southview as a 1st grader.  She continued her educational journey at Crisp County Middle School where she was one of the few black students who attended when the Freedom of Choice forms were needed.  A proud 1971 graduate of Crisp County High School, Lyn had a special bond with her fellow graduates.  Historically they were the first integrated graduating class in the Crisp County School System as a result of A. S. Clark High School and Crisp County High School merging.  They were the class that chose the school mascot, song, and colors.  Lyn was accepted to Morris Brown College and  later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Albany State College.  She continued her graduate studying at Fort Valley State College.

Lyn was a lifelong member of the Allen Temple AME Church where she served as a Steward.  Her love for the Lord and the church was always evident.   She served in so many capacities with an unfailing commitment.  Lyn's love for music led to her becoming a member of the Miracles of Music.

Whether she was called "Ms. West," "Miss Lyn" or simply, "My Teacher!"  Rhondalyn Wright West answered the call to cultivate the minds of the young people who were placed in her care.  As a dedicated employee of the Crisp County School System, she was a committed educator who saw every child as an individual.  Even after retiring, she would keep in contact with former students, just to make sure they were handing the day-to-day challenges they faced with the vigor she had always tried to instill in them.

Through her sense of service to mankind, Lyn became a part of the greatest sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  She was a faithful, caring, and steadfast Soror of the Albany Alumnae Chapter.  She believed in "sisterhood" and she, along with her sisters never quit in their willingness and ability to give their best at all times. As a member of the Gillespie-Selden Alumni Association, Lyn was instrumental in planning many of the school's reunion celebrations over the years.

A true testament of care, love, and unwavering hope, Lyn was never too busy to help anyone.  She believed in family and they were always first in her thoughts and prayers.  As a wife, mother, and grandmother, she spoiled the men of her life with undeniable love.

She will be remembered by her husband, Anthony West; her sons, Adrian Nigel West and his fiance, Chantalia M. Cooper of Altanta, GA and Alex Justin West and his wife, Whitney C. West of Perry, GA; her grandsons, Chavis Ali Malik Merritt and Ace Jordan West;  her sisters-in-law, Phyllis W. Williams and Yolanda (Ike) Grant; her brothers-in-law, Adrian C. West, Shelton West and Garrett Davis; her special cousins, Betty (Carlos) Sands of Hialeah, FL, Angela (Lajuan) Spivey of Atlanta, GA, Dorothy C. Patrick of Cordele, GA, Cynthia Bryant of Tucker, GA, Anita K. Johnson of Atlanta, GA, E. Frances Kennerly of San Jose, CA, Bettie K. Greene of Virginia, Willard Hill of Waycross, GA, Bernita K. Lewis of Alma, GA, William Booker, II of California; her lifelong friends, Lynda Sue, Dorrence, Diana, Oweta, Robert, and  Zelda (Butch); her dearest friends, Jane & George Everret, Ginger, Kirby, Pearl, Lola, Jackie, Lewis Canady, Dot Schofield, Phyllis Olds, Marsha, Joy, Gloria, Tony, Gwen, David, Karen, Lasheka, Brenda, Mechie, and Winnie; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends, Gail (Rick), Tab (Antonio), Scottie (Sheila), Beady, Jap, Tavius, Tonya, Marcus, Marco, Atari, Donnell, Tryell, Ike, Carla, Josh, and Asher; her children, Reggie, Deric, Jackie Lee, Mone, Quan, Boo & Bridget, Rell & La, Sharnette, Kershia, Darcel, Litra, Nikki; her godson, Eddie Griggs; a host of other dear friends, to include the Class of 1971, her Line Sisters, her Albany Alumnae Chapter Delta Sisters, and many sorrowing friends.
