Obituary

Reverend McArthur Deriso, Sr. of 256 Railroad Street, Desoto, Georgia died Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at the Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 12:00 Noon in the sanctuary of the St. John Baptist Church in Leslie, Georgia. The burial will follow at the St. John Cemetery in Leslie, Georgia.

The Reverend McArthur Deriso, Sr. was born in Lee County, Georgia on October 27, 1934.  He was born to Arthur Deriso and Arlena Worth Deriso.

He was educated in the public school system of Lee County.

At an early age he joined the Saint John Baptist Church.  As a member of Saint John, he grew and served the Lord faithfully.  It was also at St. John where he answered the call to preach the word of God and was ordained as a minister.

On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, God in His infinite wisdom summoned him to come home.  His parents and his children, Willie Lee "Botoe" Deriso, Bobby Jean Brown, Wilma Merritt, Arthur Mae   Deriso, and Bobby Lee Deriso, precede him in death.  He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Lula Mae Deriso Garry, Jessie Mae Deriso Stevenson, Willie James Deriso, Frank Deriso, and Floyd Deriso.

Many unforgettable memories of his life will be cherished by his wife, Sharon Deriso of Desoto, Georgia; his children, Betty Nell Thomas, Julius (Fannie) Deriso, McArthur Deriso, Jr., and Ja'Kerria Deriso; 21 grandchildren; 60 great grandchildren; his siblings, Vickie Mae Mathis, Arthur (Bettye)  Deriso, Dorothy (Walter) Fuller, Bertha (Charles) Ray; his sisters-in-law; Georgia Deriso and Pearlie Deriso; many nieces and nephews; a host of    cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
