Ms. Rekitia Lakesha Kendrick of 2004 Armory Drive, Americus, Georgia died Friday, July 26, 2024 at the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 4, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of Restoration Church of Americus in Americus, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery in Smithville, Georgia.

Our beloved Rekitia Lakesha Kendrick began her earthly journey on March 2, 1981.  The daughter of Shirley McGrady Kendrick and the late Jessie Kendrick. she was born in Americus, Georgia.

A member of Mount Pleasant Church in Smithville, Georgia, she was raised in church since a little girl. When she moved from Americus to Warner Robins, she  attended Hope Church of Warner Robins for four years and she also enjoyed visiting Presence Church in Perry, Georgia.  She loved the Lord very much.

Educated in the public schools of Sumter County, she was a 1999 graduate of Americus High School.  In 2011, she did further studies at Ashford University where she majored in Business Management.

Rekitia was a remarkably creative and artistic entrepreneur, with a strong passion for designing and creating decorations family gatherings, birthdays, and weddings. She was very family-oriented, enjoying cooking and organizing events to keep her loved ones connected. As a devoted aunt, Rekitia poured her time, love, and encouragement into her nieces and nephews, treating them as if they were her own. She treasured attending their school functions, celebrating their birthdays each year, and supporting their extracurricular activities.

Rekitia welcomed her only child, Kyletavious, into her life, providing him with    everything he needed while being a loving, thoughtful, and caring mother. Her nurturing nature extended beyond motherhood to her roles as a sister, a friend, and an aunt, leaving a significant impact on many. Known for her strength, fighting spirit, and compassion, Rekitia was selfless in her actions. She was profoundly dedicated to her caring mother, opting to be with her during her last years. She made numerous memories with her mother, valuing their time together more than her own             accomplishments.

In the days before her passing, she experienced the joy of meeting her newborn grandchild, Kylan Hill, on July 22, 2024.  Kylan's birth brought her immense       happiness and pride. We are thankful she had the opportunity to meet him before her departure. Rekitia was cherished by everyone, and although she is no longer here, her memory will always be honored.  She peacefully transitioned on Friday, July 26, 2024 at the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia. Her father, Jessie,  along with her uncle, Jack McGrady, Jr., precede her in death.

Memories of her life will forever be cherished her beloved and son, Kyletavious Hill of Warner Robins, Georgia; her adored grandson, Kylan Hill of Decatur, Georgia; her devoted mother who served as her caregiver, Shirley M. Kendrick of Americus, Georgia; her sisters, Shireka (Keon) Felton of Byron, Georgia and Joquet Love of Binghamton, New York; her aunts and uncles, Theartis McGrady Bridges (Clyde), Annie (Michael) Wade, Alice McGrady (Alonzo) and David McGrady all of Americus, Georgia, Leon (Belle) McGrady of Albany, Georgia, James (Mary) McGrady of Smithville, Georgia, Ernest McGrady of Albany, Georgia, Joseph McGrady of Rochester, New York, Catherine Andrew of Binghamton, New York, Rome Kendrick (Lillie) of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Margie Cunningham (Mark) of Columbus, Ohio, Patricia Cabbell (Frederick) of Chestnut Ridge, New York , Alonzo Kendrick of Carrollton, Texas, Donald Kendrick and Rodney Kendrick both of Americus, Georgia; her devoted father figure, Eugene Edge, Jr. (Charmaine) of Americus, Georgia; her devoted nieces and nephews, Nazhia Kendrick, Alayla Felton, Amonte Felton, and Malachi Felton; her devoted cousins, Denise Wade-Deriso of Fayetteville, Georgia and Shamekia Wade-Yizar of Atlanta, Georgia; a devoted friend, Latrabian Williams; a host of cousins, other relatives and many  sorrowing friends, to include her beloved dog, Kody Kendrick.
