Mrs. Phyllis McKenzie Lewis of 12971 Highway 90 West, Byromville, Georgia, died Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Dooly County K-8 School in Pinehurst, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Little Poplar Spring Cemetery in Byromville, Georgia.

On Thursday morning, January 8, 2026, a beautiful and precious angel was called home to be with the Lord. Phyllis McKenzie Lewis, affectionately known as "Phyl," was born on August 25, 1967, in Crisp County, Georgia, to Alfaye Williams and the late Carl  McKenzie.

The seeds of education were planted early in Phyllis's life as she attended the Dooly County Public School System. She was a proud graduate of Dooly County High School, Class of 1986. At the time of her passing, she was employed at Frito-Lay, where she served as a Lead over the GES line.

On May 11, 1996, Phyllis married the love of her life, Sammie. From this union, they were blessed with one child. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will always be remembered as a loving and protective mother and grandmother. Phyllis had a great sense of humor, strong      determination, and a contagious love for laughter and fun.

At an early age, she confessed Christ as her personal Savior and united with Little Poplar Spring Baptist Church in  Byromville, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Nakilyyah   Aaliyah Lewis; her father, Carl McKenzie and Clarence Williams, whom she loved dearly; her brother, Roman McKenzie and her sister, Lessie McKenzie.

She leaves to cherish memories to her devoted husband,    Sammie Lewis; her daughter/granddaughter, Meghan Alyse Lewis; her caring mother, Alfaye Williams of Byromville, Georgia; her sons, Lanorris Gary (Bridgie) of Lilly, Georgia, Chavious Henry of Montezuma, Georgia and Reverend  Christopher Carter of Virginia; her daughter,  Lashannon Henry Gouch (Roderick) of Warner Robins, Georgia; her granddaughters, Takeeria Gary, Jiya Henry, Delesia Henry and Akira Gouch; a grandson, Chavious Henry Jr.; her sister, Lyzette Caldwell (Charles) of Byromville, Georgia; her  brothers, Carl McKenzie of Unadilla, Georgia, Garbowski McKenzie of Byromville, Georgia, Alexander McKenzie (Tiffany) of Warner Robins, Georgia and Chris McKenzie (Wanda) of Atlanta, Georgia; her sisters/brothers-in-law: Blondie Beal, Pharscharon Lewis, Paulette Hooper, Debra Merrell, and Vera Lewis all of Byromville, Georgia, Diann Byrd of Montezuma, Georgia, Babette Lewis of Vienna, Georgia, Susie Griffin (Johnnie) of Jacksonville, Florida, Evelyn Lewis of Camden, New Jersey, Billy Lewis and Terence Lewis of Byromville, Georgia, Jessie Lewis of Columbus, Georgia, Robert Lewis of Paulsboro, New Jersey, and Reverend Lewis Burden Sr. of Vienna, Georgia; a host of   nieces, nephews,   other relatives, and many sorrowing friends, including a special group of friends known as the Byromville Crew and her Frito-Lay second-shift GES line family.
