Obituary

Pastor George Alma Solomon of 253 West Rockhill Drive, Americus, Georgia died Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Friday, September 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Friendship Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia.  The burial will follow at Staley Memorial Garden in Americus, Georgia.

God in His infinite wisdom, wonderfully blessed the union of Sam T. Solomon, Sr. and Alma Ruth Solomon with the birth of a son.  Born February 12, 1951 in Sumter County, Georgia, they named their blessing, George Alma Solomon.

A product of the Sumter County School System, he earned his GED in 1972 from South George Technical College.

At the age of 12, he united with the Bethlehem Baptist Church, Plains, Georgia.  Later in life he united with Healing Temple Ministries, Inc. under the leadership of the late Bishop P. J. Welch and the late Supervisor L. R. Welch.  He accepted the call to pastor in 2012 under the leadership of the late Apostle R. E. Welchin.

Never a stranger to work, our beloved husband and father, was employed as a Technician with Weyhauser now International Paper Co. for 32 years.  He retired in 2012.  In 1980 he started his own business, Solomon's Landscaping.  He passed the business onto his son upon his retirement in 2012.

On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, because he saw what we could not see and heard a voice we could not hear, he transitioned from this life to life everlasting.  He is preceded in death by his father and his grandparents, Mattie Bell Sanders, Bob & Carrie Sims-Solomon, and Al Dotson.

His life's journey will be cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Geraldine Mack Solomon of Americus, Georgia; his loving and devoted children, Cassandra S. Jackson and Carla Denise Solomon of Americus, Georgia, Ericka N. Paige of Byron,  Georgia, Glenda "Rena" Ingram (Norbert) and Jason Bernard Solomon (Sonya) of Americus, Georgia, and Amelia Michelle Solomon of Lawrenceville, Georgia; 20 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; his loving and devoted mother, Alma Ruth Solomon of Americus, Georgia; his loving sisters, Annie Walton Person (John) of Fayetteville, Georgia, Virginia Chapelle of   Baltimore, Maryland, and Anita Solomon of Buford, Georgia; his beloved brothers, Reverend Sam T. Solomon, Jr. (Brenda) of North Augusta, South Carolina, Marvin Solomon of Woodbridge, Virginia, Arthur Solomon of Americus, Georgia, and John Timothy Solomon of Fayetteville, Georgia; his aunts and uncles, James Dotson of College Park, Georgia, Al Dotson, Jr., Dorothy Winbush, Mary L. Johnson, Barbara Dotson all of Smithville, Georgia, Martha Townsley and Mary Mack both of Miami, Florida, Robert Sanders, Mattie Colquitt, and Aretha Patterson all of Americus, Georgia;  three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; a host of nieces and nephews, to include,       Michael Lowery of Leesburg, Georgia; a host of cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
