Obituary

Ms. Pamela Machel Thomas of Palmetta, Georgia, formerly of Rochelle, Georgia, died Friday, June 27, 2025, at her residence.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Piney Grove Cemetery in Rochelle, Georgia.

Pamela Machel Thomas, born on March 2, 1967, in Rochelle, Georgia, was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend to many. She was the cherished daughter of John Jackson and Louella Thomas.

Pamela attended Wilcox County High School, where she graduated with fond memories and lifelong friendships. Her thirst for knowledge led her to further her education at Brewton Parker College, where she continued to nurture her love for learning.

Early in her life, Pamela committed herself to her faith by joining Piney Grove Baptist Church. Later, she continued her spiritual journey with the congregation at Woods Memorial Baptist Church. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, influencing her generous spirit and love for community service.

Pamela was known for her exuberant love of life and her ability to have a good time. She was an avid volunteer, dedicating her time after school to feeding and helping students with activities, always striving to make a positive impact on young lives.

Pamela cherished family time above all else. She delighted in taking trips and creating unforgettable memories with her loved ones. Her kindness and willingness to help others were a testament to her compassionate nature.

Her love for sports was evident as she enjoyed watching tennis and basketball, and she was a devoted fan of the Atlanta Falcons. Pamela's favorite indulgences included Red Velvet cake, fish, Jolly Ranchers, Hot Fries, and boiled peanuts—comfort foods that brought her joy.

Pamela transitioned peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2025. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, John Jackson and Louella Thomas; her brother, Lawrence (Michael) Thomas; her grandparents, Willie Thomas and Sylvester Thomas Smith; and her aunts, Rena Thomas and Linnie Mae Young (Roosevelt).

Pamela's vibrant spirit, unwavering faith, and loving heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of kindness and joy will continue to inspire those she leaves behind, her loving and devoted children,  Nakiya Thomas and Marc Parker of Palmetto, Georgia; her loving sister, LaTarsha (Michael) Davis of Ellenwood, Georgia; her caring aunts and uncles, Sherman (Vaneza) Thomas of Ellenwood, Georgia, Ronnie Thomas of Rochelle, Georgia, Wilbur Thomas of Decatur, Georgia, Willie Thomas, Jr. (Candi) of Killeen, Texas, Willie Mae Rogers of Decatur, Georgia, and Flora Thomas of Atlanta, Georgia; her niece and nephews, Regginald Thomas, Tashayla Thomas, Miles Davis, and Jordan Thomas; her cousins, Harriett Young, Fontella Young, Lasheilya Hixson, Laketa (Damian) Blair, Christopher Thomas, Robert Sims, Joseph (Vicky) Favors, Kimberly (Jermaine) Childs, Sonya (Fabian) Wrease, Brad Deans, Sasha Wright, and Gregory Thomas; a host of relatives and many friends, including   Doris Wielder, Phyliss Stallworth, John Smith, and Capri Banks.
