United States Air Force Veteran, Mr. Oscar Lewis of 2724 Ledo Road, Albany, Georgia died Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Willson Hospice House in Albany, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary. of the Greater Pines Chapel Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. The burial, with military honors, will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.
Our beloved, Mr. Oscar Lewis was born May 12, 1943. He was born to Arthur Lewis, Sr. and Mary B. Myles Lewis in Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia.
He was a graduate of A. S. Clark High School in Cordele, Georgia.
His love for his country inspired him to enlist in the United States Air Force. A Vietnam Veteran, he served with honor and distinction. He earned several medals and commendations during his time of service. At the completion of his commitment, he was Honorably discharged.
Having accepted Christ as his personal Savior, Oscar united with the Greater Pines Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. He was a member of the Greater Pines Chapel MBC Choir.
On Sunday, December 17, 2023 his earthly walk came to a peaceful end. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Arthur Lewis, Jr., Alfreda Lewis, Vernice Thomas, Pierce L. Lewis, Elease Wooten, Ellen Bridges, and David J. Hamilton.
His journey will forever be cherished by his loving and devoted family: his wife, Peggy Joyce Dorset Lewis; his daughter, Alexis McKnight of Chicago, Illinois; his siblings, Mamie R. (Elijah) Jackson and Alfred Lewis of Albany, Georgia, Bobby Hamilton of Byron, Georgia, Helen (Willie E.) Lockette of Albany, Georgia and Lillian Robinson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; his sister-in-law, Polly Lewis of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
