Mr. Nathaniel Jerome Lewis, Sr., of 734 Ben Street, Vienna, Georgia, died Sunday, October 12, 2025, at his residence.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 3:30 PM at the Dooly County Elementary School Gymnasium in Pinehurst, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Vienna City Cemetery in Vienna, Georgia.

Mr. Fred George Lewis, Jr. and Mr. Nathaniel Jerome Lewis, Sr., the sons of the late Mr. Fred George Lewis, Sr. and Mrs. Leola Graham Lewis born in Vienna, Georgia and were   educated in the Dooly County School System.  Fred graduated from Vienna High and Industrial School and Nathaniel from Vienna High School.

Freddie and Nat, so lovingly called, were members of Mount Zion CME Church.  They learned that their lives were fearfully and wonderfully guided from birth to adulthood;   learning, doing, and resting in God's eternal grace.

Nat was born premature.  His grandmother, Mama Rene, said he could fit into a coffee pot; however, with God's loving care and grace he grew up to be a big strong teddy bear for so man people who loved him dearly.  He had a big heart and loved helping those in need.

After high school Nat worked as a butcher for several years at Stephens Grocery Store in   Vienna, Georgia.

Nat was mechanically skillful at an early.  He often could disassemble his siblings radios and toys putting them back together with a big smile on his face; yet upsetting his siblings and his mother.  He learned several skills later helping him in his calling of becoming an  electrician at Middle Georgia EMC; providing electricity and related services for Dooly, Pulaski, Wilcox, Houston, Turner, Macon, and Ben Hill counties.  He retired from EMC after 39 years.

Nat loved outdoors, hunting and fishing.  He loved sitting outside under his carport watching nature and his hummingbirds with his devoted friend and fishing buddy, Doris Wellons Lewis.  He was an avid deer hunter, and was skilled in dressing venison steak, sausage, and chili.  He once killed two deer with one shot.  He loved cooking as well.  His specialty was Brunswick Stew, green and BBQ ribs.

He leaves to cherish his memory three sons, Nathaniel Jerome Lewis, Jr. (Nita), Adrian Devon Lewis, and Nathan John Lewis; their mother, Johnnie Mae Lewis, and a daughter, Keri Belvin.  He has 21 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and four godchildren.  Nat has a great legacy to be carried on again and again, today and tomorrow.

Freddie and Nat leave cherished memories to their siblings:  L. Marie Lewis (Major) and  Irene Elaine Mango (John); sisters-in-law, Janet Lewis, Neselee Lewis, Victoria Campbell, Genevieve Habersham, and Mary Weathers (Jesse); an uncle, Robert Graham; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, a cloud of witnesses, precious neighbors, and friends.
