MSgt James Curtis Dempsey, USAF, Retired of 407 East 25th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia died Monday, April 25, 2022 at his residence.
The funeral service, with full military honors, will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the J. W. Williams Funeral Porte Cochere in Cordele, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.
The union of the late Mr. Lucious Dempsey and the late Mrs. Ella Dennard Dempsey was blessed with birth of a son on May 13, 1950. They named their blessing, James Curtis Dempsey.
As a young man, James attended the Beulahland Baptist Church. He received his early education from the public schools of Crisp County. He was a 1967 graduate of the A. S. Clark High School. He did further studying at the Fort Valley State College in Fort Valley, Georgia.
In 1968, he began his enlistment with the United States Air Force. He served his country with honor and distinction earning many commendations and medals. After a storied military career, he retired and was given a Honorable discharge.
James enjoyed cooking and gardening. A sports enthusiast, he also enjoyed bowling and a good game of darts.
On Monday, April 25, 2022 his earthly journey came to an end. Along with is parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, Mr. Johnny Dempsey, Mr. Joseph Dempsey, and Mr. Lucious Dempsey, Jr.
His life will forever be cherished by his loving sisters, Mrs. Jannie Miller and Miss Carol N. Dempsey both of Cordele, Georgia, and Mrs. Benda Sellers of Jacksonville, Florida; his caring brothers, Mr. Harry Dempsey of Chester, Pennsylvania, Deacon Wayward Dempsey of Cordele, Georgia, Mr. Alfred (Debra) Dempsey of Jeffersonville, Georgia, and Mr. Ronald Shiloh of Jacksonville, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, to include a special cousin, Mother Lucille Shazier of Cordele, Georgia; a host of other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
