Mrs. LaShonda Green-Williams of 102 Payton Circle, Americus, Georgia, died Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
The funeral service will be held Monday, September 21, 2026, at 5:00 PM at the Eastview Cemetery Pavilion in Americus, Georgia.
LaShonda Green-Williams entered this world on July 13, 1963, in Sumter County, Georgia, as the beloved daughter of Raymond Green and Edith Ann Hollis Green. On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, she peacefully transitioned from grace to glory, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, service, and love.
Educated in the Sumter County school system, LaShonda was a proud 1981 graduate of Americus High School. She dedicated herself to higher education and community betterment, earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Albany State University and later completing her Master of Public Administration at Columbus State University.
Rooted deeply in faith and service, LaShonda gave her life to Christ and worshipped at Big Bethel Baptist Church. She was an active and devoted member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Americus Alumnae Chapter, where she shared a profound and cherished bond with her Sorors.
Above all, LaShonda loved her family. She was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, David Lee Williams, Sr. She found great joy in cooking hearty meals for those she held dear and simply spending quality time together. Her enthusiasm was unmatched on game days—her absolute favorite team was always whichever team her beloved grandsons or nephews were playing on.
LaShonda was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Green, and her grandparents, Walter and Minnie Hollis, and David Sr. and Bernice Green.
Her radiant memory and enduring love will forever be cherished by: her devoted husband, David Lee Williams, Sr. of Americus, Georgia; her loving mother, Edith Ann Hollis Green of Americus, Georgia; her children, April Jenel Green of Decatur, Georgia, Denishia Nelson (Harold) of Kathleen, Georgia; and David Lee Williams, Jr. (Victoria) of San Diego, California; her grandchildren, Fabian Walker, Jr., D’Niya Nelson, Jayvion Rumph, Za’Kai Ross, Davion Williams, Cherrish Williams, Nahari Williams, Moriah Williams, and Naomi Williams; her great-grandchildren: Ny’Lyric Johnson and Shi’aire Wedderburn; her siblings, Yolanda Green Pless (Marco) and Raymond Green (Natalie), both of Decatur, Georgia; her aunts and uncles, Minnie Hollis Engram, James Hollis (Mary), Dr. Shirley Green Reese, Bobbie Andrews (William), Jimmy Green, Alice Green, and Debra Green, all of Americus, Georgia and Dr. Gregory Green of Fort Valley, Georgia; her brothers-in-law, Leon Harvey and Leroy Williams; her niece and nephews, Marco Pless, Jr., Ace Kashton Green, Jaden Proby, and Savannah Rae Jewel Green, all of Decatur, Georgia; her special friends, Michael Manns and Shron Manns; a host of cousins, extended family members, Sorors, and many sorrowing friends.
