Born on October 13, 1929, in Pinehurst, Georgia, she was the beloved daughter of the late Mr. James McWilliams and Mrs. Cora Bell McWilliams. Educated in the public school system of Dooly County, she graduated from Vienna High and Industrial School before embarking on an extensive and distinguished academic journey. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Fort Valley State University, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Albany State University. Driven by a lifelong love of learning, she pursued further postgraduate studies at Atlanta University and Georgia Southern University. She was also a proud and dedicated member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
Mrs. Marchman was a woman of profound faith and deep community roots. She was united with Bethel Baptist Church and held the distinct honor of being its second-oldest living member upon her passing. Her spiritual leadership extended to Springhill Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a Deaconess, Sunday School teacher, Executive Board member, and religious program coordinator. Additionally, she poured her heart into nurturing the next generation as the Youth co-coordinator for the Georgia Union Missionary Baptist Association.
A passionate and nurturing educator, Mrs. Marchman dedicated 40 phenomenal years to equipping students with practical, essential life skills required for independent living and personal well-being. Her legacy lives on through the countless students whose lives she shaped, inspired, and uplifted throughout her four decades in the classroom.
She was united in holy matrimony to her beloved husband, Mr. George Marchman, with whom she shared many wonderful, love-filled years until his passing. She is also preceded in death by her parents and her siblings.
Cherished memories of her beautiful life will forever be treasured by her loving and devoted niece/daughter, Peatrice (Roderigus) Anderson of Chesapeake, Virginia; her grandson, Rodrick Anderson; her dedicated caregiver, Ms. Josephine Greene of Pinehurst, Georgia; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends who will miss her deeply but rejoice in her heavenly peace.
