Mr. Jerry Sutton, Sr.

United States Army Veteran, Mr. Jerry Sutton, Sr., of Vienna, Georgia, died Thursday, July 16, 2026, at his residence.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Little Poplar Spring Church Cemetery in Byromville, Georgia.

Jerry Sutton, Sr. was born on April 18, 1959, in Dooly County, Georgia, to the late J. W. Sutton, Sr. and the late Debbie Woodson Sutton. On July 16, 2026, Jerry peacefully transitioned from this earthly life into eternal rest.

Jerry spent his formative years in Dooly County and was a proud 1978 graduate of Vienna High & Industrial High School. Answering the call of duty, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country with distinction until receiving an honorable discharge.

A believer in Jesus, Jerry accepted Christ early in life and was baptized at Poplar Spring Baptist Church in Byromville, Georgia. Later, he joined in fellowship with the congregation at New Birth Tabernacle in Vienna, Georgia.

Jerry lived life with enthusiasm and simple pleasures. He was a familiar and welcome sight riding his electric bike through town. An avid outdoorsman, Jerry loved fishing, hunting, and preparing wildlife meals to enjoy. He was also a passionate sports enthusiast, with a deep love for watching baseball games. Above all, Jerry cherished time spent with his family and friends, bringing warmth and companionship to those around him.

Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved parents, J. W. Sutton, Sr. and Debbie Woodson Sutton, and his precious grandchild, Season Adams.

His memory will forever be cherished by his loving and caring family, his wife, Carolyn Leary Sutton of Unadilla, Georgia; his children, Jerry Sutton, Jr. (Sylvia) of Unadilla, Georgia, and Rodney B. Sutton of Warner Robins, Georgia; five grandchildren, China Adams, Summer Cherry, Seven Sutton, Cherish Sutton, and Chance Cherry; one great-granddaughter, Choice Burke; his sisters, Mary Sutton of Vienna, Georgia, Wanda Canady (Earnest), and Pamela Sutton Collins, both of Unadilla, Georgia; his brothers, Reverend Johnny Sutton (JoAnn) of Covington, Georgia, Timothy Sutton (Mammie) of Cordele, Georgia, Larry Sutton, and Dexter Sutton (LeAndria), both of Vienna, Georgia; his aunts and uncles, Randy Sutton of California, Berthina Foster and Tommy Sutton, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, Anthony Sutton of Boston, Massachusetts, and Gregory Sutton of Washington State; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, and dear friends, including special friends Darren “Eightball” Young and Sheila Felder, both of Vienna, Georgia.
