Mother Martha Virginia Dennard Mills of McDonough, Georgia, died Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at her residence.
The funeral service will be on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Spring Hill Baptist Church in Tippettville, Georgia. The burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery.
Martha Virginia Dennard Mills was born in Hawkinsville, Georgia, to D.C. and Mamie Dennard on November 13, 1942.
She attended school in Wilcox County and Pulaski County, Georgia, but later finished high school at Price High School in Atlanta, Georgia.
Martha married Samuel Mills on July 22, 1961, in Hawkinsville, Georgia.
Martha worked as a Merchandise Examiner for J. C. Penney Company for 25 years.
Martha joined the Mount Air Baptist Church at an early age, but after marriage, moved her membership to join her husband at Springhill Baptist Church in Tippettville, Georgia. Martha became heavily involved in the Ministry for many years by serving in the Choir, Kitchen Committee, Mission (President), and Church Mother, until her health failed. She also served in the Georgia Union Missionary Baptist Association for many years, which culminated in her receiving an Award of Appreciation in October 2022.
Martha transitioned from life to life eternal on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Mills, her son, Lemuel Mills, her parents, D. C. and Mamie Dennard; her siblings, Artis Griffin, Lucille Griffin, Robbie Anderson, and Mamie Ruth Davis.
Martha is survived by sons, Myron Mills (Valenica) and Patrick Mills (Tonya); her grandchildren, Akil Mills (Samantha), Bryson Mills and Allegra Mills; one great grandchild, Malik Anthony Mills; her siblings, Pearline Hill, Dr. David Dennard, Otha Dennard, and Mathis Dennard; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
