Mother Theron Tolbert Jones of 712 North 10th Street, Cordele, Georgia died Sunday, August 4, 2024 at her residence.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Westview Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.
Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services is required to wear a mask and to practice social distancing. A mask must be worn throughout the stay. You must supply your own mask.
A loving and caring spirit was born on March 17, 1927 when the union of Freeman, Sr. and Fannie Tolbert welcomed a daughter, Theron. Born in Crisp County, Georgia, received her education at the Little Macedonia School. She also attended Gillespie-Selden Institute.
A true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, she faithfully attended and worshipped at the Cordele Institutional Church of God In Christ. She served as a senior mother on the Mother Board and a member of the Senior Choir. Mother Jones was also known as a diligent prayer warrior.
A daily worshipper, she enjoyed planting flowers and gardening. An excellent cook, she enjoyed the simple things in life and most importantly to her, was being surrounded by her family and friends. Many titles can be given to her, but the one that was most dear to her was, "World's Greatest Grandmother".
On August 21, 1948, she became the wife of Howard Jones, Sr. Their union was beautifully blessed with nine children. On Sunday, August 4, 2024, she joined her husband and son, Samuel in a place of eternal rest. Her life will forever be loved and remembered as she is the last of the 17 siblings born to the Tolbert family.
Her legacy will be cherished by her loving and devoted children, Mrs. Etheron Dennard, Mr. Howard Jones, Jr., Mr. David Jones, and Apostle Morris (Mattie) Jones all of Cordele, Georgia, Mrs. Joyce Ann Brown of Warner Robins, Georgia, Mrs. Geraldine (Charles) Dennard of Cordele, Georgia, Mrs. Evelyn (Larry) Jackson of Americus, Georgia, and Ms. Angela Mercer of Cordele, Georgia; her grandchildren, Mark, Sabrina, Ernest, Howard III, Trina, Chris (Deidra), Latoya, Chris (Natasha), Cedric, Jowaski, Tammica, Tanya, Callie, Morris Jr. (Kawanda), Eboney, Victor, Lakesha, Brianna (Keadrick), Theron (Kenneth), Tomekia, Courtney, Latoya (Johnny), Julius, Tyree, Salondria, Brandon, Clifton Jr., Nicolas, Desmond (Brooklyn), and Adrian; 71 great grandchildren; others whom she regarded as her children, Ms. Nicole Johnson of Bonaire, Georgia, Mr. Clifton Darrell Mercer, Sr. of Americus, Georgia, Mr. Dayell Brown of Cordele, Georgia, Ms. Angela McClendon of Vienna, Georgia, Mrs. Ethel Mae Jones of Jacksonville, Florida, Mrs. Dell Jones and Mr. David (Geraldine) Perry both of Cordele, Georgia; five sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; a host of nieces and nephews, to include a special niece, Ms. Willie Mae Crapp of Cordele, Georgia; a host of cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends, to include, Mrs. Joyce (Jerry) Sinyard, Mr. Brett (Tiffany) Sinyard, Ms. Jeannie Stephens, Mr. Johnathon (Michelle) Sinyard, Ms. Bertha Lucas, Mrs. Mattie Gary, and Mrs. Dorothy Bridges.
