Obituary

Mother Annie Ruth Smith Davis of 109 Aradian Street, Americus, Georgia died Thursday, December 23, 2021 at the Lillian Carter Health and Rehabilitation Center in Plains, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 12:00 Noon on the grounds of Restoration Church of Americus.   The burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery in Americus, Georgia.   Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

The life journey of Sister Annie Ruth Davis began on August 13, 1927 in Sumter County, Americus, Georgia.  She was born to the late Willie Smith and Luella Smith.  Sister Davis gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined New Ebenezer Baptist Church, Americus, Sumter County,     Georgia, where she remained faithful and dedicated for the duration of her life. She served diligently as Chairman of the Pastor's Aide Club.

She received her education in the Sumter County School System, Americus, Georgia.  She was united in holy matrimony to the late John T. Davis.  This union was blessed with three children.

Sister Davis was kind and gentle and always wore a beautiful smile.  She loved everyone and everyone loved her.  She would do anything to help someone in need.

During the late evening of December 23, 2021, while Sister Davis quietly slept, the Heavenly Father made a visit to her bedside and said, "Annie Ruth, let's take a ride."  "You have fought a good fight." "You kept the faith." "Now let's go home and rest."

Sister Annie Ruth went home to be with the Lord, leaving behind a family who loved her so much.  She was preceded in death by a son,  Obbie Wilkerson Jr.;  a granddaughter, LaTonya Larkin and a grandson, Eddie Thomas Davis, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her children: Dorothy Patterson and Eddie (Cynthia) Davis of Americus, Georgia; her grandchildren: Eric (Carolyn) Patterson, Laquasha Davis, Flinza Davis, Chelby Davis, Christopher Wilkerson, Kenthon Tookes, Trenton Tookes, Obbie Wilkerson, III, and Diana Diankoff;  her great-grandchildren: Angelica Patterson,  Ariel Barker, Michael Carter, Kirsten Hill, Amber Magee, Flinza Serrell Davis, and Natalya Larkin; a devoted god-sister, Margaret Mathis, many devoted cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.  She is also survived by her loving adopted children:  Janie Thorpe, Linda Dowdell-Pope, Alice Green, Ethel Wilson, Oneida Ingram, Juanita Smith, Betty Newsome, Alvin Jackson, Ann Harper, and Delores Jackson.
