Mother Baslean Porter Robinson of 301 Lakeworth Court, Americus, Georgia died Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at the Montezuma Health and Rehabilitation Center in Montezuma, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 10:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Cobb, Georgia. The burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery.
The union of Trim Porter and Ozie Robinson Porter was blessed with the birth of a daughter on September 5, 1937. Our beloved Baslean Porter Robinson was born in Sumter County, Georgia to a loving family. She received her education from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church School.
Early in life she accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She loved worshipping and praising the Lord. She united with the Summerville Baptist Church and later she joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Over the years she worked faithfully as President of the Choir, Mission President, and Mother of the Church.
A loving mother and grandmother, she was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed cooking and being around people, especially children. Always active, she loved traveling, bowling, and fishing.
On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, her earthly journey came to a peaceful end. While we will miss her presence, we take comfort that she is at peace. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her stepson, Willie Frank Robinson; her sisters, Evelene Porter, Catherine Porter, Doretha Porter, Mary Ola Porter, Mattie Smith, and Leeola; her brothers, Trim Porter, Jr., PeeJoe Porter, Robert Paul Porter, Johnny Lee Porter, Thomas Porter, and Willie Porter.
Her life will forever by her loving and devoted daughter, Regina (Claude) Deriso of Americus, Georgia her beloved stepchildren, Cheryl (Ben) Wofford of Jacksonville, Florida, Counis (Derell) Royal of Jacksonville, Florida, and Ms. Corene Scott of New York, New York; her goddaughter, Ms. Barbara Byden of Atlanta, Georgia; 11 grandchildren, to include, two of whom she reared, Shaukara Smith of Americus, Georgia and Quadrika Robinson of Jacksonville, Florida; 14 great grandchildren; her loving sisters, Mary (Raymond) Reddick and Rosie Johnson both of Jacksonville, Florida; her in-laws, Louise Dixon of Long Beach, California, Coring Daniels of New Jersey, Betty J. Tarver and Mary Coston of Swainsboro, Georgia, Quincy Robinson of Bartow, Georgia, Reverend Verlon Robinson of Albany, Georgia and Vanessa Porter of Chicago, Illinois; a host of caring nieces and nephews, to include Reverend Lorenzo Patterson of Jacksonville, Florida; a host of cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends, to include, Julia Pearl Hayes and Ann Mitchell both of Cobb, Georgia, Ella Crosby of South Carolina, and Ella Mae Smith of Chicago, Illinois.
