The union of Sam Everett and Mary Frances Durham Everett was wonderfully blessed on Monday, January 22, 1934, when they welcomed a beautiful baby girl. They lovingly named her Mary Pecola.
Born in Crisp County, Georgia, she would receive her education from the schools of her community. She was a proud 1950 graduate of the Gillespie-Selden Institute.
Blessed with a gifted and loving spirit, she served the Lord with her whole heart. A faithful member of the Cordele Institutional Church of God In Christ, Mother Jackson never wavered in commitment to service the Lord and his people. For over 40 years she served as the church's musician always willing to her part to advance the Kingdom of God. A member of the church's Mother Board, she was also the president of the Bible Band.
Never willing to sit idle when there was work to be done, Mother Jackson was the founder and organizer of the South Georgia Workshop Choir and the South Georgia Children's Workshop Choir, both of which were under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Paden.
On Sunday, May 5, 2024, she heard a voice we didn't hear and saw a light we didn't see, and she peacefully surrendered to the will of her Savior. Her beloved husband, Deacon Price Junior Jackson and her beloved son, Superintendent Ronald Jackson precede her in death. Her parents and her siblings, Leartis, Andrew, Thelma, W. C., Maybell, Willie, Gloria, Melvin, Lucille, Fred, Inez, Plennie, and Hattie, also precede her in death.
Memories of her life's work will forever be cherished by a loving and devoted daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn Jackson of Cordele, Georgia; a loving and devoted granddaughter, Tiffany J. Sumler of Cordele, Georgia; her loving great grandchildren, Joshua (Jasmine) Sumler of Hawaii, Jenice Sumler of Cordele, Georgia, Jayda Sumler of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Jordan Sumler of Hagerstown, Maryland, Jenyla Sumler of Daytona Beach, Florida, Jackson Sumler and Jaionna Sumler both of Cordele, Georgia; four great, great grandchildren, Jonah Sumler and Jenna Sumler of Cordele, Georgia, Karter Sumler of Virginia and Jehlani Sumler of Hawaii; a loving and devoted sister, Essie Bettye (Henry) Rainge of Warner Robins, Georgia; a beloved and caring brother, Curtis (Margie) Everett of Fairburn, Georgia; a heavenly host of nieces and nephews, to include two special nephews, Freddie C.
