Mother Ida Mae Gaston Mumphery of 1706 South 6th Street, Cordele, Georgia died Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 12:00 Noon at the J. W. Williams Funeral Home Porte Cochere in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Westview Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

On November 8, 1931 our beloved Mother Ida Mae Gaston Mumphery was welcomed to this world in Crisp County, Georgia.  She was born to the late Mr. Henry Gaston, Sr. and the late Mrs. Fannie M. Pritchett.  She was reared by her grandparents, Mr. Clark and Mrs. Emma King.

The early seeds of education were planted in her life at the Odum Grove Church School.  She later attended Gillespie-Selden Institute.

She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and united with the Odum Grove Baptist Church.  She loved her church and was always willing to serve whenever she was   needed.

On Thursday, January 13, 2022, she transitioned from this life to life everlasting.  She is also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Pless Mumphery; her sons, Mr. Marion Hodge and Mr. Norris Hodge; and her siblings, Mrs. Thelma Patrick and Mr. Henry Gaston, Jr.

Her life's journey will forever be remembered by her loving and devoted daughter, Ms. Magadalene H. Outlaw of Cordele, Georgia; her loving bonus children, Mrs. Denise Hodges Morris and her husband, Mr. Melvin Hodges, Ms. Darlene Hodges, Ms. Sandra Hodges, Mr. Ronald Hodges and his wife, Mrs. Gloria Hodges, and Mr. Donald Hodges all of Jacksonville, Florida; her loving grandchildren, Mrs. Stephanie Perry Clark and her husband, Mr. Allen Clark and Mr. Brandon (Kim) Perry all of Cordele, Georgia, Ms. Azure Hodge and Ms. Belinda Hodge both of Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Marion Hodge and his wife, Mrs. Cierra Hodge of Cordele, Georgia, Ms. Natoria Butts of Warner Robins, Georgia, Ms. Vontressa Hodge, Mr. Reginald (Veronica) Lawrence, and Ms. Cynthia Dent all of Cordele, Georgia; 28 great grandchildren; 29 great, great grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ola Mae Evans of Jacksonville, Florida and Mrs. Dorothy Hodges of Jupiter, Florida; a host of nieces and nephews; many cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
