Mother Eva Mae Peavy McKinney of 151 Jessie Street, Rochelle, Georgia, died Monday, February 16, 2026, at her residence.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 3:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Piney Grove Baptist Church in Rochelle, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Piney Grove Cemetery in Rochelle, Georgia.
Eva Mae Peavy McKinney was born on February 24, 1939, to Hawarde Peavy, Sr., and Kate Peavy. Her journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and a profound commitment to her family and faith.
Eva Mae was raised in the nurturing environment of Wilcox County, where she attended public schools. Her upbringing instilled in her qualities of kindness and resilience that she carried throughout her life. She was a devoted member of the Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Rochelle, Georgia, where her faith was a guiding light.
She had a passion for sewing, cooking, and gardening. These activities were not only hobbies but also ways in which she expressed her love and creativity. Her home was a testament to her skills, filled with warmth and the aroma of home-cooked meals.
As a caregiver, Eva Mae touched the lives of many, offering support and kindness to those in need. Her generous spirit was evident in her relationships and the love she shared with her family and friends.
She was married to the late Willie McKinney, with whom she shared many cherished years. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Ann and Triscilla; her brothers, Hawarde, Jr. and Isaiah; and her son-in-law, Glen. She transitioned peacefully on February 16, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Mother Eva Mae Peavy McKinney's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and dedication. Her memory will be forever cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Marie Driver and Margaret McKinney of Rochelle, Georgia; Jerry McKinney of Hawkinsville, Georgia; Larry McKinney of Richardson, Texas; Jimmy McKinney (Dorothy) of Abbeville, Georgia; Linda McKinney of Pineville, Georgia; and Roland McKinney (Tanja) of Columbus, Georgia. her 16 grandchildren, four of whom she raised as her own—Fredrick, Dontavis, Johnny, and Jaquonna; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Leomie Peavy, a special friend, Adeal Lawson of Rochelle, Georgia; a host of other relatives and friends, to include, Jimmy Lee Caldwell of Rochelle, Georgia.
