Obituary

Mother Mittie Bell Barron Dennard of 202 East 15th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia died Monday, February 28, 2022 at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.

The graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

The late Mr. Willie Fred Barron, Sr. and the late Mrs.   Willie Mae Reynolds Barron were blessed with the birth of a daughter on May 26, 1927.  Our beloved, Mittie Bell Barron Dennard began her earthly journey in Lilly, Dooly County, Georgia.

As a child she was educated in the Dooly County Public School System.

She confessed hope in Jesus Christ and united with the Beulahland Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia.  She faithfully attended service.

"Miss Mit" or "Mama Mit" was known throughout the community.  She never met a stranger and she took pride in being the Matriarch of the family.  Never one to complain, she believed in being straight forward about what she had to say.

Along with her love for flowers, she also loved cooking and cleaning.  Whenever the opportunity presented itself, she could be found somewhere fishing.

On Monday, February 28, 2022, her journey here came to a peaceful end.  While we are forever grateful for her life and the joy she shared, our hearts are saddened as she was the last surviving child of her parents.  Along with her parents and siblings, she is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Leroy Dennard, Sr. and her children, Mr. Oscar Dennard, Mrs. Ruby Bell, Mr. Leroy Dennard, Jr.,  and Mr. Sandy Cross.

Precious memories are left to her loving and devoted children, Mrs. Lottie Wilson (Elder Charles) of Cordele, Georgia, Mr. Eddie Morgan of St. Petersburg, Florida, Mrs. Margaret C. Hudson (Will) and Ms. Shirley Cross both of Cordele, Georgia, Mr. James Cross, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. David Cross, and Mrs. Loretta C. Benjamin (James) all of Cordele, Georgia, and Mr. Robert Lee Cross of Tennessee; 37 loving grandchildren; 89 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law; two brothers-in-law; a host of nieces and nephews; many cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
