Mrs. Mittie Carol Carter Redding of 3120 NW 4th Place, Fort Lauderdale, Florida passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the Broward General Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery, Hatley Community, Cordele, Georgia.

Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services must wear a mask and practice social distancing.  A mask must be worn throughout the stay.  You must supply your mask.

Mrs. Mittie Carol Carter Redding, a cherished resident of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and formerly of Cordele, Georgia (Crisp County), was born on December 30, 1942. Her life journey began with the loving guidance of her parents, the late Reverend Walter Carter, Sr., and the late Mrs. Maggielene Tukes Carter.

Mittie's educational journey took root in Cordele, Georgia. She was a proud graduate of the Class of 1963 from A. S. Clark High School and pursued some college education thereafter. Her spiritual journey began as a child at Pilgrim Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, later attending Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Cordele.

In 1964, Mittie entered into holy matrimony with Mr. M. C. Redding, embarking on a new chapter in Fort Myers, Florida. Their journey eventually led them to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she continued to nurture her family and faith at Springfield Baptist Church until her health declined.

A devoted homemaker, she found joy in cooking and shared her warmth and kindness with everyone she met. Known for her heartwarming smile, she embraced everyone as a friend and cherished her family, her faith, and the spirit of gospel music.

Mittie's life was touched by the loss of several beloved family members, including her husband, her oldest son, Mr. Otis Redding, and her granddaughter, Ms. Alexia Brown. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Mrs. Mae Emma Miller, Mrs. Mary Sheppard, Mrs. Jane McGruder, Mrs. Susie Williams, Mr. Walter Carter Jr., Mr. James Carter, Mr. Charlie Carter, Mrs. Easter Mae Henderson, and Mr. King David Carter.

On December 19, 2024, Mittie peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord. Her legacy of love continues through her devoted daughter Mrs. Brenda Brown and her son Mr. Lorenzo (Gwendolyn) Redding, both of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; her beloved and caring grandsons, Mr. Isreal Brown and Mr. Keith Brown; four step-grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; her loving siblings, Mrs. Martha Ruth Westbrook of Arabi, Georgia, Mrs. Willie Mae Leary, and Mr. William (Catherine) Carter, both of Cordele, Georgia; her sisters-in-law, Mrs. Linda Carter of Sylvester, Georgia, Mrs. Wilma (Eddie) Lewis, Mrs. Eula (Michael) Smith, Mrs. Lynn (Ronnie) Starks, Mrs. Veronda (Nathaniel) Roddy, Ms. Tammy Redding all of Cordele, Georgia, Mrs. Rose (Buford) Stokes of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Mrs. Elizabeth (Ervin) Johnson of Lakewood, New Jersey, Mrs. Linda (Edward) Park of Atlanta,  Georgia; a brother-in-law, Mr. Johnny Redding of Tifton, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and countless sorrowing friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Her journey of faith, love, and kindness leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
