Obituary

Missionary Annie Mae Allen of 1614 North Jackson Street, Americus, Georgia passed away Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Friday, December 13, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia.

Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services must wear a mask and practice social distancing.  A mask must be worn throughout the stay.  You must supply your mask.

Missionary Annie Mae Wafford Allen Calhoun was born September 5, 1946, in Americus, Sumter County, Georgia.  She was born to the proud and loving parentage of Mr. Tom Wafford, Sr. and Mrs. Willie B. Wafford Smith, both of whom precede her in death.

She received her education in the Sumter County School System, starting at Northeast Elementary School and continuing at Sumter County High School.

A devoted Christian woman, a strong believer in the Lord Jesus Christ; throughout her life, she exemplified faith, kindness, and love towards others. Her unwavering devotion to her beliefs served as an inspiration to all who knew her. She worshipped faithfully at Abundant Life Holiness Church, Inc., Leslie, Georgia, Inspirational Church By Faith, Inc., Americus, Georgia, and New Life Holiness Church, Oglethorpe, Georgia.  She touched the lives of many with her compassion and gentle spirit.

Her earthly journey was completed on Saturday, November 30, 2024.  She will be deeply missed but her legacy of faith and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Along with her parents, her husband, Deacon Paul Allen; her son John Paul Allen; and her siblings, Ms. Bertha Jewel Wafford, Mr. Pink Wafford, Mr. Clifford  Wafford, Mrs. Eula Mae Dodson, Mrs. Pearl Henry, Mr. Tom Wafford, Jr., Mr. Johnny Lee Wafford, Mrs. Carrie Lou Adams, Mr. Jimmy Young Wafford, Mr. Eddie B. Wafford, Ms. Ethel Lee Brown, and Mr. E. J. Leverette, each precede her in death.

May she rest peacefully in the loving embrace of the Lord and may He give comfort to her family left to celebrate her life:  her husband, Mr. David Calhoun of Homerville, Georgia; Ms. Sandra Wafford King and Minister Shirley Allen of Americus, Georgia, Ms. Angela Allen of Perry, Georgia, Ms. Erica Allen-Davis (Tyrone) of Plains, Georgia, and Prophetess JoAnne Allen Johnson (William) of Augusta, Georgia; 16 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; her sisters, Ms. Mattie W. Allen of Americus, Georgia, Pastor Mary Etta McFarley (Elder Frank) of Lee County, Georgia and Mrs. Ida Wafford McDuffie (Walter) of   Fayetteville, North Carolina; her sisters-in-law, Ms. Susie Wafford, Mrs. Mary Ann Banks, and Mrs. Virginia Allen of Americus, Georgia; her brother-in-law, Mr. James Allen of Americus, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,  other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
