The funeral service will be held Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of Bethel Baptist Church in Vienna, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Vienna City Cemetery in Vienna, Georgia.

Marshall Lawrence, Sr. and Carrie McGee Lawrence welcomed with great joy and love the birth of their daughter, Mildred.  She was born September 10, 1951 in Milner, Georgia.

Mildred began her quest for knowledge in the Lamar County Public School system.  After receiving her high school diploma, she continued her journey at her beloved Savannah State University in Savannah, Georgia and later at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Georgia.

A believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, Mildred faithfully worshipped at Bethel Baptist Church in Vienna, Georgia.  Her love for the Lord and his people was evident as she served in many capacities of the church as Sunday School Teacher, Church Secretary, member of the choir, Assistant Clerk, and organizer of the Easter and Christmas programs.

Mildred believed in the development of young minds. She worked with enthusiasm as an educator for many years in the Dooly and Crisp County school systems.  After retiring she busied herself tutoring, baking, traveling with her Gamma Sigma Sigma Sorority sisters, talking on the phone with her nieces and nephews, and volunteering with the Crisp Regional Hospital Auxiliary as a Pink Lady.

As a proud member of the Gamma Sigma Sigma National   Service Society, Mildred believed in service to humanity and she exemplified this trait through her  community work.  She was a member of Open Hearts Women's Club and the Dooly County Schools Retired Educators.

On Sunday October 20, 2024, she transitioned from this life.  She is preceded in death by her sons, Jamal Lashawn Keaton and Weston Lawrence Keaton; her parents, Marshall Lawrence, Sr. and Carrie Lawrence; her siblings, Marshall Lawrence, Jr., Robert Lawrence, James Lawrence, Dollie Leaks, Doris    Barker, and Elizabeth Passmore.

Her life's journey will forever be cherished by her husband, Winston Keaton of Vienna, Georgia; her daughter, Marshell Lindsay Keaton of Atlanta, Georgia; her grandson, Dayen Saviour Lewis; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Lawrence and Geneva Lawrence; her loving nieces and nephews; other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
