Obituary

Mr. Maurice A. Simmons of 133 Virginia Street, Cordele, Georgia died Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 27, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Crisp County Middle School Auditorium in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

On January 1, 1978 a baby boy was born in Cordele, Crisp   County, Georgia.  Maurice Antoine Simmons was born to Clara Mae Simmons and Eddie James Tolbert.

As a child he was enrolled in the public school system of Crisp County.  He continued his education and became a proud graduate of Crisp County High School.

Maurice enjoyed cooking and talking "trash" to anyone that would listen.  No one could match his die hard devotion to "his" Pittsburgh Steelers.  Win, lose or draw, he was always pulling for the Steelers.  He also enjoyed being a member of the Cool Water Racing Family.

A hard worker, he was a loyal employee of Blue Bird of Fort   Valley.

Because he heard a voice we could not hear and saw a light we could not see, he transitioned from this life on Saturday, August 19, 2023.  His mother, Clara; his brother, Shawn Simmons; his grandparents, Lucille Blount Porter, Authur Simmons, and Freeman Tolbert, Jr., each precede him in death.

He leaves cherished memories to his fiancée, Sable Humbert and her son, Jamaurieon of Cordele, Georgia; his daughter, Jordan "Jada Kiss" Greene of  Vienna, Georgia; his father, Reverend Eddie James Tolbert of Cordele, Georgia; his siblings, Veronique Simmons and Jeffery Street of Cordele, Georgia, MSG Keyatta Tolbert (Henry) of Surprise, Arizona, Laura Morgan (Aundre) of Palmetto, Georgia and Nicholas Johnson of Macon, Georgia; his grandmother, Dorothy Tolbert of Cordele, Georgia; his aunts and uncles, Marie Porter, Geraldine P. (Johnny) Ford, Thelma Porter, Eloise (John) Stubbs, Sharon Tolbert, Gladys  Lewis, Joanne (Robbie) Williams, Fannie Pollock, Annette (JC) Clark, Eddie  Porter, Jr., Freeman Tolbert, III, Richard Tolbert, Kenneth Tolbert, Vernon Tolbert, and Larry Felton of Cordele, Georgia, Booker T. Porter of Tallahassee, Florida, Arthur (Lynn) Simmons, Jr. of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Jerome (Sheree) Tolbert, Sr. of Fort Valley, Georgia; his nieces and nephew, Perisha Bryant, Artavia Bryant, Jr. and Lashawna Simmons; a great niece, Jakayla Simmons; his special cousins, Dwight Johnson, Cedric Johnson, Braculas Johnson, Demetreus Porter, Stephanie Porter Johnson, and Debra Harvey; a host of other beloved cousins, other        relatives and many sorrowing friends.
