Ms. Mary Louise Troutman Trahan of 1107 East 8th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia died Wednesday, November 13, 2024 in Fairburn, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Westview Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

Mary Troutman Trahan was a ray of light to her family, friends, and everyone who knew her.  She was known for her kindness and compassion; she believed in helping others.  On Wednesday morning, November 13, 2024, she entered eternal rest.

Mary was born to the late Zell Benjamin Troutman and Lillie Beatrice Robinson on June 9, 1947, in Cordele, Georgia.  She was preceded in death by her sister Ruby Dean Robinson, and her brother Willie Joe Troutman.  She is survived by her kids, Anthony A. Troutman (Leslie) of Florida, Mary E. Trahan Lee (Kevin) of Florida, Nicole R. Trahan of Georgia, Charles V. Trahan of Florida, and Anitra D. Trahan of Georgia.  She is also survived by her brothers, Robert Brown of Georgia, John Troutman (Sonya) of Georgia, her uncle, Larry Charles McCloud; her aunt, Sherrill Robinson, god sons, Dwight Smart, Gary Smart, and Kirk Griffin. She leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and a large circle of friends.

Coconut Grove, Florida

After middle school Mary's family relocated to Coconut Grove, Florida, which is where she met her former spouse Christopher Pernell Trahan and gained friendships that would last her a lifetime.  She graduated from George Washington Carver Highschool in 1966.  Mary studied Business at Miami Dade community College.  She was a hard-working determined woman.  She worked at the Florida department store chain, Burdines, for over twenty years.  She often received employee rewards and recognition.

Carol City, Florida

Mary's light continued to shine in Carol City, Florida.  She was a loving mother to her kids and a supportive figure to many other young adults in their neighborhood.  When she first arrived to the city, she  organized an annual Easter egg hunt and assisted parents with various needs.  Her home was a safe place where many loved to gather.  She was a soulful woman who loved music.  She supported the dreams of her kids and others.  It wasn't unusual to see music artists, dancers, and singers at her home rehearsing.  Her home was full of laughter.  The memories and laughs her kids share are unmatched.  Their Christmases were magical, they often asked, "How did momma pull this off?" She was an amazing mother and friend who left a positive impact on everyone she encountered.  She loved People!

Cordele, Georgia

Mary returned to her hometown, Cordele, Georgia, where she found comfort and continued to spread kindness.  Mary was a member at the Greater Morris Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church where Pastor K. M. Williams, serves as pastor.  She truly loved her church family.  Mary served on the Senior Mission, Program Committee, and Floral Committee.  She was a selfless person who cared for others.  For years she created and delivered care packages to patients in the nursing home.  She had her own medical challenges but still assisted others.  She was a soft-spoken, kind woman, who sincerely went out of her way to help others.  If you knew her, you know that she was an angel here on earth!
