Obituary

Mrs. Martha Kendrick Warren of Perry, Georgia, formerly of Cordele, Georgia, Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Westbury Health Facility in McDonough, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the chapel of J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Pinehurst, Georgia.

On March 12, 1944,  two rays of sunshine were born to the late Deacon Roosevelt and Ola Mae Kendrick in Dooly County, Georgia.  Her parents named one ray of sunshine, Martha. Our mother grew up in a Christian family that instilled lasting religious and moral values into all their children. Martha was always faithful about attending school and church as a child and adult. She was educated in the Dooly County School System. Martha remained an avid reader until her health prevented her from continuing.

As a young lady, Martha followed her cousin and her sister to New York to work. While working in New York, she met her future husband, the late Nedum Warren.  They were married in Jersey City, New Jersey, on November 30, 1967. Later, she relocated back to Georgia. Martha worked as a seamstress at Landlubber and Cordele Uniform until her retirement. She was a life-long member of the Holly Grove Baptist Church in Dooly County. Her duties included serving as the church treasurer, a choir member, a hospitality club member, and any other duties she saw a need to fill in the church. In 2010, she relocated once again to be close to her children. She enjoyed spending time with her  children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and her husband, she is also preceded in death by her siblings: Christine Wiggins, Eddie B. Kendrick, Lola Kendrick, Lloyd Kendrick, Mary Kendrick, Lonnie Kendrick, Roosevelt Kendrick, Jr, Virlene Johnson, and Jerome Kendrick. She also had a very loving aunt, Willie Mae Cobb, who preceded her in death.

She was a loving mother who ensured that her children understood the value of education and a hard work ethic, which aided them in their   spiritual lives and careers. She is survived by her children, Dr. Donald (Sabrina) Warren of McDonough, Georgia, and Beverly Bagley of Perry, Georgia, and a devoted niece, Brenda Kendrick of Warner Robins, Georgia. Her loving grandchildren, Kendrick Warren of McDonough, Georgia, Antonio Bagley of Atlanta, Georgia, Rachel (Chris) Popham of Locust  Grove, Georgia, and Charles E. Bagley, III of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her great-grandchildren, whom she spoiled: Ethan and Evan Bagley of Glen Burnie, Maryland; Ava Mitchell and Olivia Popham of Locust Grove, Georgia; and Morgan and Camryn Popham of Warner Robins, Georgia.  Martha is survived by her fraternal twin, Mary Burrough of Abbeville, Georgia, and sisters-in-law: Gwendolyn Hall of Cordele, Georgia, and Bettye Warren of Reform, Alabama.

Martha also leaves to mourn her passing her church family, Deacon Eddie and Shelia Almond, Deacon Carl Rueben Smith, her cousin, Betty McClendon, and her caregiver, Betty Rodgers of Warner Robins, Georgia. She also leaves a host of other nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
